Today I acquired...........

Went in to Lidl `s today and got some groceries.

Two packs of wire brushes ( good)
Four rechargeable work lights ( they seem to be a decent quality)
Wire cups ( probably tosh)
some hoseloc fittings ( seem ok)
Diamond discs ( Jury is still out)

If I make the probably wrong assumption that Lidl use the same cheapo manufacturers as Aldi . . . then the cup brushes I found to be very good - I wore them down over a good amount of time, rather than them slinging the wires out. Excellent tools for removing car underbody rubberised protection and recycling it as garage roof insulation/light absorbtion material in one easy move

The hand brushes also long lasting and robust - and I have been cutting the worn bits off to create shorter brushes for small gaps.

I've had big diamond disc in my big grinder for quite a number of years - DIY use of course, but it still just keeps on cutting - grinder is on its second set of brushing driving it. Does a nice job on car tyres too . . . cutting them into smaller bits.

Aldi & Lidl do use lost of Chinese manufacturers but they quality test it and also set the bar for quality at that price , that's why their EU stuff that comes over has to have a sensible working life to reduce materials production and thousands of dead tools , I notice some have the 3 yr warrantee , but not all just yet .

I was in Braemar for a hiking trip and was bemused to find the classiest posh pub there was called The Fife Arms , Must not be named after methil and leven parts lol

A great Charity shop, on the coast, put some stuff aside for me.
Most is items they know they will not sell in the shop, or on line. Plus localy there is no good out let for the tools.

They had placed them ina box and taped it shut. I knew there would be good stuff, as, to date they have not let me down.

A few chucks. No use for them, yet.

A pair of Horshore magnets, a Rolls Razor.
Plus any Ex Rn WE's, ye sthat includes Tiffs. Should reconise the yellow screwdriver.

I even knew a tiff who could use it.

A small pipe cutter.

A small bench hold down.

A small Pifco Torch. Both bulbs work, the red one still flashes.

A 1950's RAC badge. The two holes should hold the mount.

I was never really a big fan other than admiring the famous bum, but wife and daughter are weill into ABBA so we went to ABBA Voyage
Got to say it was pretty amazing well worth it. Technically very clever and good fun

Youngest boy enjoying the beer, 2 eldest boys waaaaay too cool to attend something as naff as that

... three 120l bags of paper shavings, lots of file folders and mountains of stapling strips, as well as two and a half free shelf meters ....

.... I was able to shred 10 years of accounting records until a point 10 years ago, the retention period had expired ...

.... i was even a bit amazed about what an active business life i had at that time compared to the more sedate pace now - you've even heard the word midday nap lately here.

Granted, I could have started shredding exactly one accounting year nine years ago, but, hey, it was much more satisfying this way ....

.... with strategic pauses always just short of the shredder's overheating limit and not skimping on oil on the chipping rollers ....

... I love the smell of hot WD40 in the afternoon
