I hope it's £50 of useful as that's what a replacement stator has cost. From Probois Machinoutils, now the waiting begins.

And the waiting has ended, the stator arrived.

Waiting 2, the sequel, is now playing. I need to get out into the shed to fit it. First i have to clear a path through spawn 1's clutter that arrived today. Anyone have a spare rubbish compactor?

Bit miffed as we paid for SD which is next day and obviously was never going to be.

Hopefully it’ll arrive tomorrow.

Complain, you should get your money back from the seller and the seller should be able to claim from the royal mail

Our local Postie delivered the mail at 7:40 am the other morning....and it isn't even lambing time.

<sigh> That's the sort of time our post always arrived when I was little. You'd see the local postman wandering around about 1000 after he'd finished his shift. Never had a Christmas postie job, but the students would still deliver before 0900.

Generations of management, cheeseparing, no vision, means delivery is now 1200 - 1400 </sigh>

Funny enough I saw a program on gaztube last night. They reckoned when people stopped getting giros by mail the assaults on posties fell overnight….

i knew a lad who used to meet the postie at the beginning of his road to get his 15 mins faster...we used to call him the "road runner"

Clone battery and a conversion collet,6.3/3.2 mm,so as my dremmel has expired I can use the small bits in my regular die grinder,assuming they’ll still cut at the slower speed.
The battery is suspect,it’s lighter than my genuine makita 5 amp o.

A while ago on holiday I was chatting to a London paramedic, he told about a druggie that was on his last legs, flat out on the road close to death. There is a drug that they administer that very quickly reverses opiate overdoses, they shot this into him & moments later he came round & they were going to take him in. With that he jumped up & ran off shouting “got to cash my Giro before closing”

How they can still get away with this type of selling is beyond me...Its about time we all should start reporting them for blatant robbery.

You've already noticed here that the Metabo free battery campaign has opened my wallet.

Today another order became complete - and I blame you for that, because I had not yet come across a 76mm format ...

... and 76mm sounds a lot like 3 inches right off the bat!

The guard is adjustable without tools via detents in a certain range.

For this thing - bought without a battery, but in a system case with a small assortment of discs - the promotion gave the 2Ah battery instead of the 4Ah, as was the case with the previous, more powerful tools.

But it fits, after all, this thing is supposed to be light and easy to manoeuvre and you can get into small corners with it ... so I hope ....

Of course, this also requires a certain number of different abrasives .... apart from the ones supplied ...

... I also received some from Bosch, Pferd and again Metabo:

I had only decided to buy when I saw how many well-known companies already offer media for this format - this must have been around much longer than I would have suspected (I don't get to know anything at all anymore here in my tiny village ... )

I tired of cloned batteries. Sent the last lot that I bought back to the Ebay seller and got my money refunded. This was a year or two ago. They used to be OK a few years back, but I think there was a race to the bottom. The seller sent some BS excuse like "They aren't as long-lasting as genuine batteries". I replied and said they are advertised as 5ah, they should last as long.

I just buy the genuine ones now. The quality is still there after you get over the cost. I still own an older 4, and a 5ah clone battery that seem to do OK

I sleep better assuming the batteries I own are unlikely to burst into flames in the middle of the night. The fake ones live in a metal box. I'm not sure about having batteries next to each other if one catches fire but I hope it is all contained.

That’s handy to know. We used to use RM as they’re the best of a bad lot, but the post office has had a change of staff and they’re all a bit divvy.

Not sure if fed ex will pick up here but I’ll look into it. They’re possibly cheaper to USA as well?

Problem is buying you have almost no choice about the shipping method. (Outside of speed) and that's a bit random.

I purchased 3 things Monday from Amazon. I came next day. I is coming between 15th and 18th Oct one between 28 and some time November. But this was amazon and I have prime and these delivery times were not indicated before purchase. It's getting crazy.

I don't like Amazon and rarely use it, but SWMBO does:

Before the last step of buying you can see if Amazon ships it or the seller - if we need something very urgend, we buy only if Amazon has it in its own warehouse and ships it, only then we're sure to get the stuff next day (for a little fee, of cause - if not next day, the fee will be reimbursed).

If the seller ships, look where he's located, then you'll get an idea how long it possibly takes.

This purchase was from a hydraulic place I’ve used for years and they’re always good to me so I won’t make a fuss. It was more the post office took the money and knew it was a service they couldn’t honour.

I don't agree with it BUT there are not many other places that carry stock and almost certainly nothing local.
Ironically I was going to go through what I have purchased in the last month to see where it would be stocked locally.
