They're carbon disks - pressure applied to the stack via the pedal reduces the resistanceNext project on my bench , no real value in this condition, i will keep it for myself for repair jobs on clothes, rucksacks, panniers, tarps ect.

Mysterious foot switch that contains two bores in the porcelain part with what I'm guessing are ferrite disks on a spring contact ?

Worth a fortune as winter fuel never mind boat buildingToday i acquired a lorry load of old Burma Teak floorboards probably victorian. I had to pay a bit for it but it was nothing compared to what its worth to me as boatbuilding timber. Covered in bitumen one side & filthy dirty it took a whole morning to unload it & stack it in my shed.
Must be well over two tons & half of it is in 16ft lengths. I am very satisfyingly knackered.
