Today I acquired...........

Rechargeable LED headlamp .
I bought it because it's practically winter and there's no light when and where I go to fishing.
It's cool because it has 3 settings one is for UV light.
I think for "charge" egis and other fluorescent artificial baits .
I've passed the last hour looking for "evidence" in my car backseats...
I have been not surprised because it had 16 owners but I still little bit disgusted
Maybe is just blood , at least I hope

Tried these nuts on the grinders and like them, acquired ten in a deal. Going to put them on everything.

I had one and it lasted less than a day. That stupid handle snapped off.

Was it my gorilla grip or just a crap design? Please report back on how long they last in donk world as I liked the idea….

Edit. The best ones were a dewalt I think. They have a 6mm hex instead of the pin spanner fitting. They weren’t about long though

Ditto, think I bought 5 at a bit of a discount. I put a smear of copper slip on the M14 threads. Makes removal easier.

Not had any issues with these, there are the two peg holes if needed under the lift up tab for the odd jambed up one. I am blaming @sako243 for introducing them to me.

Fancied a bigger bench shear, this was £180 from Zoro after using 15%off code, seem pretty decent, body is made from 25mm thick steel, 200mm blade length. Yes I could’ve bought a used old British made one for the same or less but they are never for sale anywhere near me whereas this one arrived next day to my doorstep, and I know this one isn’t going to be blunt or abused.

Where is that available from? I made a couple of new earth leads up the other day and ended using brass gauze instead (that is how LV mains / service distribution cables are clamped up in the joints)

That's a good idea. I had a couple of them for two of my grinders, but they ended up getting chucked in the bottom of a drawer or given away or something as I preferred the standard ones. The milwaukee ones were either too tight to undo with the handle (in which case the milwaukee nut was pointless as you still needed a tool to undo the nut) or loose enough I could just loosen the nut by gripping the disc (in which case the milwaukee nut was pointless). Perhaps it would have been a bit better with copper slip

I have these on the small grinders and to be honest they are crap or at least they are not what I expected as I thought they were quick release but instead I usually need pliers, small screwdriver, nail or whatever to undo.
DeWalt one I wasn't keen on as the hex was too easily rounded and it was then a real pain.
Best ones are the genuine Bosch SDS Clic, they can be undone by hand 99.9% of the time, just don't put them on upside down Only problem with them is they are a bit more bulky than the others so not as good on the 115mm grinders.
Don't be tempted by the knockoff Bosh style, had two different makes and they didn't last.

I've two 18V, cloned Fakitas, both have added quick release nuts. Wouldn't be without them. Use thin discs so as not to over stress them.

Given I've used an adjustable spanner to tighten and untighten it in the past you must have really big donks in Orkney

I only ever use my waterpump pliers to undo these nuts, never ever use the two pin thing, tighten by hand twisting.

When I was a kid I used to collect TV valves from old sets in the local dump. Then place them around the garden they made great exploding targets for air gun shooting.
I think they actually imploded as they are under vacuum but still great fun.

My Metabo has a quick nut but but just has a knurled finish. I always turn the disc to tighten and loosen rather than try to hold the nut.

Having misplaced the boss key/spanner to undo the standard nut on my 4 inch angle grinder after I'd unplugged it
In desperation to finish the job I locked the spindle & pulled on the disc anti clockwise .. it undid the cutting disc as the nut slacked off .

That was about 11 years go . I've tightened and undone them just by pulling on the disc's ever since. Both on my 4 and 9 inch angle grinders, using resin fibre disc's, tungsten & steel disc's , flap wheels and wire wheels when wearing gloves . So far I've not had one slip or break up on me .

I eventually found the boss spanner some months later on the floor under a bench where I'd no doubt kicked it ..
