That's all you got for your three thousand pounds?Dropped into my favourite scrap yard today and came out with these...mixer now running perfect after a carb clean, wacker plate runs but sounds like it needs the same treatment.

Can’t understand why the other manufacturers continued without a centre bearing? Was looking for some reading materials and found for the cost of 2 copies of Motorcycle News I could buy:

All 1954 issues of the green un, I have a 55 AJS and Matchless, so they were launched late 54. My AJS:

Their roadtests were pretty good:

Amazing they could produce this quality weekly pre computers. Murray Walkers dad.Graham was editor.
Ironically AJS and Matchless twins had a reputation for crank breakages, later 650's switched from cast iron to spheroidal iron cranks. Folk reconned the lack of flex on a crank mounted on roller bearings either side resulted in increased stresses on the crank as the 2 bearing cranks of the competition faired better. It did get a reputation as a sweet and smooth engine though. Can’t understand why the other manufacturers continued without a centre bearing?
Those covers should be scanned and printed out as wall artWas looking for some reading materials and found for the cost of 2 copies of Motorcycle News I could buy:
