Both were due to be scraped. But the manage knew I would like them.Wow I really like that double engine.
If you are fitting the vinyl and wear glasses it's best to wear some old ones you don't mind getting scratched - don't ask me how I know.Three sheets of 8' x 4' 6mm hardwood ply. I only asked for 2 but the builders merchant's delivered 3 as the first one was a bit mucky so I might as well have it
Result, half a sheet is for the daughter's new ensuite to line the floorboards before putting down some heavy duty non-slip vinyl, the stuff they use in wet rooms with bits of minerals in it.
Only half a sheet was a bit mucky on one side so I now have loads of ply for drawer bottoms I need to make for the built in storage in her bedroom, and for the two drawers I'm making for files and BFHs under the bench with the big vice in the workshop.
Yeah it's only a little table for my smaller tig jobs , it will look grand once I've put some holes in it and ground the surface and made a new base.........Plus if its a appendage measuring mission, where I did my apprenticeship they had T slot cast iron bedplates laid in the floor 2 foot thick over a 100 foot by 500 foot area what would make your tables look rather limp.Nice coffee table
hang on its February now, game on!
Every four years or so I get new spec's under the two for one scheme .. can't get what I like other than like that way, so I now have 8 pairs of every day / driving glasess , 8 pairs of computer work glasses , 8 pairs of reading glasses .If you are fitting the vinyl and wear glasses it's best to wear some old ones you don't mind getting scratched - don't ask me how I know.
I have old spare pairs too, one set on the bike and one in the car plus my old safety glasses in the garage for when I am grinding.Every four years or so I get new spec's under the two for one scheme .. can't get what I like other than like that way, so I now have 8 pairs of every day / driving glasess , 8 pairs of computer work glasses , 8 pairs of reading glasses .
My lens prescription hasn't changed since I became a diagnosed and treated diabetic .
In the house I only keep the last two pair set of each .
There is a spare set of driving & reading specs in each car the others are employed out in my manciupboard , I screwed of the strong hinged two cases to each main area of work station & popped in a day and reading set , when they are not used the cases get flipped down to close the lid , every blue moon the cases get vacuumed out . Bandsaw & lathe sets are most frequently .but is surprising how many times I come back into the bungalow with the mancupboard specs on my head .
Found the old computer glasses are brilliant for when playing on the lathe as I can see close up and 5 mtrs easily able to read the settings on the lathe in detail and see to small things on the the bench top at the end of the workshop .
I also pop them on inside my welding helmet as reading glasses were just too difficult to judge distances to the work piece when wearing them .
One pair of the old computer glasses got trashed with angle grinder hot crud when I left them out the case on the bench whilst cutting some 3/4 inch plate to size.
these are my Britool BA spanners Ive had since the apprentice days in the early 80s, when they made "proper" stuffSome more King Dick spanners, I shall have to stop buying stuff, I have far exceeded my tool budget this month, hang on its February now, game on!
This time a smallish Whitworth combination and set and some open ended BA.

The Whitworth are very nicely finished, the BA not so good, but they weren't expensive.

Almost looks like something that comes free with flat-pack furniture!

I have some more spanners on the way from @lotus_esprit_s1 then that's it for spanners, unless I see something shiny that takes my eye

Yes it was fairly local.i see that for sale recently. was it on facebook?
Take up model engineering, I use mine with the stuff my father gave me. My nuts and bolts collection is mainly BA and Whitworth I don't have a big selection of metric....I've got one of those Britool 8 and10 BA spanners, never found a use for it yet along with the box full of other BA spanners. I live in hope though , something might turn up that needs them.
The other day I was wondering if theres a market for old recipe products (and I see that maybe there is!)...personally I'd prefer either sugar in my stuff or nothing...I really dislike the removal of something and replacement with something else that doesn't taste the same. Some old school Irn Bru from the days before the Marxist sugar tax molested it!
Does the label at the neck relate to anyone on here? Some old school Irn Bru from the days before the Marxist sugar tax molested it!
I’d forgotten how good it was!
