Out of a skip. Only socket missing was the 3/4 af. Ratchet, extension and universal joint are missing too.
I found a 3/4 socket in my random odd sockets.
@winchman , any idea, roughly on the age , of this ?

Box and it's layout are the same as the britool socket set, that were on sale when l started my apprenticeship in 1972....Out of a skip. Only socket missing was the 3/4 af. Ratchet, extension and universal joint are missing too.

Time to build a furnace
The blow torch is a Kerosene fueled item.Stopped at Liberty Tool Company yesterday and visited a couple of antique shops on the way home. Naturally, a few items followed me home.
First, a little antique wooden scroll saw. I don't know if this was supposed to be a toy or someone's hobby saw. It looks sort of home made, but if so, it's nicely done and shows good attention to detail (except for the crude wooden base that someone stuck it on). It actually does work pretty well if you're not in a hurry. (The usual cup included for scale.)

An old Stanley 191 rabbet plane, in pretty good shape and complete except for the depth gauge. I just ordered a gauge for it on eBay, and if/when I have time, I'll clean it up and sharpen the blade.

This rather formidable-looking bad boy is a Gilchrist No. 50 ice chipping tool, left over from ice box days.

I liked the look of this old flat-tank blow torch with the pump in the handle. The filler port is on the bottom, and the shape of the bottom forms a built-in filler funnel. I think it could be made to work again, but for the time being, it's function is decorative.

More coming...
It is for taking chesses samples from a large round of chesses. This appears to be some kind of sampling tube. I forgot to include a cup for scale, but the metal part is about a foot long. It's too flimsy for a soil core sampler, and it's configured differently from grain samplers that I've seen. The sliding disc is obviously meant to push out whatever the sampled material is. Does anyone have an idea of what it was designed to sample (or any other purpose, if my sampler idea is way off the mark)?

That sounds logical, as it would be strong enough to sample a semi-soft material like cheese. @sparkysy, the diameter of the sample it takes is about 1-1/4 inches, which seems like a pretty large sample, but for really large rounds of cheese, maybe it would be a good size. I don't know much of anything about cheese making. Edit: Maybe it could also work for butter sampling. It is for taking chesses samples from a large round of chesses.

Cheese PossessedCheese I reckon. Used to make those smoked cheese, sausage shaped things. Did it come with the accompanying tool to inject the bits of ham?

Cheese Possessed
Never try making cheese on toast with it!
Did you ever have the tinned Cheese Possessed the Army had in its ration packs?I used to love the stuff.

Dad used to bring those home off Exercise as no-one would eat them.
I used to like it on digestives or biscuits, brown
but the stuff just would not toast - it sort of melted and burnt at the same time.
Sort of like melted PVC insulation.
Used to love those ration packs. My big brother would rig up a bivvy in the garden when he was on leave. All good stuff in gold tins with just the name written on top, biscuits in little green packets and Kendall mint cake. All cooked up on a hexamine stove.
