The direction of rotation of an engine drive strimmer depends on whether it has a gearbox at the head. Straight shaft strimmers have a solid shaft with a gearbox at the head meaning it turns the opposite way to the engine. This makes it a stronger unit for heavier cutting.
Bent shaft ones have a flexi drive and no gearbox so the head turns the same way as the engine. The flexi drive is weaker than a solid shaft so these are for lighter cutting.
Thanks for that, good explanation. The curved head is fine for my usage which is just light garden grass trimming. No brush cutting. I have a Stihl strimmer / brush cutter like new a year old but never liked the anti clockwise rotation of the head!
With the Kombi unit now I picked up the curved head which appears to be clockwise rotation like I'm used to and better for my compact garden grass trimming albeit the powerhead is major overkill
I really like the Kombi system and the engine is very nice to use. So I may well sell on the brush cutter as no real need anymore with this new to me setup.
