I agree I wouldn't rely on it, BCF is one of the best fire fighting chemicals but only the military are allowed to use it now due to the Ozone damage it can do, I do believe they do a good job of cleaning oil off your drive though?

Still used in aviation as well. It does the job very well, but Halon is pretty nasty stuff if you don't know what you're doing.

Unless you are sanctioned to use and operate Halon it could cost you a big fine. A big fine.

The MOD are moving away from Halon(BCF) just look on the vehicles on the road, very few have Halon(BCF) fitted to them.

Very few extinguisher companies will handle them, but will take them off you and have them recycled safely.

Today due to work I did not acquire much.

But I do now have a shelf empty of bits I don't need, so I acquired space.

Plus a envelope with bits of paper with pictures of a lady on one side and other people on the other side, in in different colours. They have numbers on as well.


But a few minutes of serious. Thank you to 2 friends who have sold some of my surplus bits, a lot of Men In shed odd tools and bits.

square the clapper box up for horizontal cutting. if your cutting down the side of a block the clapper box must be tilted so the tool swings away from the block on return stroke I used to use the large hydraulic one at college a lot . machine shop practice. nice machine by the way there getting popular again and going up in price

Good news.

I have, well I still have some space left.
Mrs TYA was telling me what she could put into that space.
Mini Me did put stuff into my newly empty shelving, cheeky git.

But I have started my self.
Friday night my Grandfathers Push Pin tool decided to not be a push pin tool anymore. I will still keep it, not worth repairing, but memories are held in that tool.

But Today mooching around in a junk shop.

I did and a old Morris point spanner with a feeler gauge attached.

While I was walking through Lidl t'other day, I spotted some nice F clamps, six quid each, almost identical to my Bessey clamps which are usually about 30 quid a piece. The top clamp is a Bessey, the bottom is the Lidl which has about 20mm extra throat. Comparable build quality although I haven't used 'em in anger yet so not sure if the materials are comparable yet. I bought 4, all they had left, it's a good job they didn't have 20 left

Update. Today I acquired an email. The man who sold me the old wood vice missing the locking nut got in contact with me - again.

To those not following this saga, he previously got in contact with me about a month ago saying he still couldn't find the locking nut, and offered me a full refund, pretty cool. I would then have to make the locking nut, which I was planning to do out of hardwood first then mill one out of steel at uni...

But no need! He was clearing a toolbox at the house and found it lurking in the bottom. Annoyingly I'm away from home but I can't wait to put it back together. Another project (almost) finished

I'll say. It was $28 which is cheap as chips for an instantaneous grip wood vice, free is even better!

Got this recently and it has been the first time today i have had a proper look through it, Mainly 3/4" drive all old UK makes with a few snap on/off.

I took apart the old EE router and spotted a 4 pin header, a quick googling suggested it was the serial pins so I immediately ordered a USB/TTL converter thingy:

Excellent, now I can... Umm...

That'll teach me to stay of Amazon after a beer or two.

I think you can use it with a Raspberry Pi so it's not completely useless.
