I have finished the "Wee Beastie", How it got the name is lost in a beer fug of time.
The new grass nail was aged in the following way.
I used it as the anode in a de rusting tank for 4 days. Then took the encrusted bar and dipped it into citric acid.
Let it dry and gave it a tickle with an wire brush.
Now it has bean wiped over with bee's wax it doesn't look out of place on the scythe.
The design of the grass nail is a mix of 4 designs I found on scythes on the walls of local pubs and garden centres. All were different. I am guessing each area had their own patterns. Or when they broke the local black smith would make a new one with bits he had.
Yes, I now know what I am going to do with it.
1. Use it to cut grass. Why?
I have it, it is restored, I want to.
2. Reap. I have a black robe on order, I am borrowing Binky. I have given Albert a new pan and some fresh lard to fry porridge.
