A few Useful scrounges from the World's Best Skip:
Should mix greensand nicely once my furnace is up and running, it has been used - once!
A small quantity of aluminium extrusion, used for lab' equipment and machinery frames - the Best Boy has been asking about building a BIG 3D printer/foam cutter, this should do a metre cube of workspace or more - we've already bought some coke-can steppers and the WBS supplied a couple of 4-axis sets of stepper drivers from a reputable maker - in need of a transformer though
And actually paid money (not a lot) for:
Slightly rusty metal shear - jaws are nearly a foot long, carried home on the back of my motorbike with the handle sticking out a few feet behind
Should be good for cutting coupons for TIG practice once it's cleaned up.

Cheap and cheerful Chinese engine electrics, no doubt, but as long as it lasts a few years, I'll be happy enough. Actually, I've been reasonably impressed by some of the Lifan and other Chinese lumps, which keep on going.
Someday, I'll finally get around to building a proper genset using the 1.6D Golf lump sitting in the outer 'shop.
Got a bit fed up with the summer power cuts, and I expect there will be more to come when the autumn / winter arrives. It's not mega powerful, but enough to run basics like lighting and PC/router, etc. I already have auxiliary feeds run to essential parts independent of the main supply from the fuseboard, so it's easy to hook them into this via a small inlet/distrib box I'd originally installed for an inverter.

I have a use for about a metre of the larger section, if you have any left over from the 3D printer I would gladly re home some.

I have been meaning to make up a fence for the table saw since I bought it a couple of years ago, I just don't want to pay ebay prices for a M or so of it, I am in Forest Hill SE London so can't be that far from you depending where in Surrey you are.

Has its dowsides too - off to do some out of hours work shortly on a day I'd rather ride to the coast for fish n chips on the seafront, late nights, carp wages.You lucky, lucky man.
