expensive bearings

Last big purchase for a long long time, honest! Just used it for the first time, lovely and quiet and the dust removal is excellent. I used the Metabo to sand the daughter's oak floor and even with a vacuum on the exhaust and abranet disks there was still a fair amount of dust flying about, I wore a mask otherwise I would have had oak bogies I now have to dust all the newly painted walls. The Metabo is still an excellent sander and I will swap out the bearings at some point. I believe there is a bluetooth app for the Mirka sander. Not sure what the point of that is yet though. I have loads more oak to do so I thought I would do it right, I like the ability to swap the 150 for a 125mm diameter pad, ideal for the skirtings and panel doors.

If you don't want it Hood I will certainly take it off your hands. My Grandad used to collect machine parts and engineering bits and pieces too. When my Grandma complained he never did anything with them, he replied "it's not what I do with them. It's what I could do with them..."

I also acquired two wheels and two braked castors for the trolley I am building for the EWM, might save myself £3k and weld them to the dog instead.
Anyone know what type of rods I should use for welding to a Collie?

Why not make him a wooden leg? (use dogwood - you can tell it by its bark)

I was the same but end up running out of room. I have used the others for parts for other things.

3 days searching for a supplier - usually every other size available but 3/4, or its a month on back order, or it’s 19mm..well

19mm isn’t 3/4”! 19.05 is, and that .05mm is s lot, when you offset the holes slightly to start with!

Feels odd driving in heavy rain after the months of hot weather but I still diverted and legged it to a favourite old shop.

Got this indicator, yes it's rough : ) but got it buckshee.

Good news.
I am earning more brownie points with Mrs TYA. I hung out the washing. Not my fault it rained, set the dishwasher up and put another load in washing machine.
Not my fault it rained.

But in work shop I am clearing space and cracking on with those "5 minute jobs"
I will show.


This lump hammer was stripped down, cleaned and a new shaft fitted.
The shaft was a brought item, cheaper that way. As it comes with a wooden and metal wedge.



Shaft well coated in linseed oil and when it is dry a good coat of hard wax.




All the other hammers have bean done, all needed a dam good clean, stain and lacquer finish.


Same with the screwdrivers. The tips are a perfect fit for the screws in most of the hand saw handle screws. So they have a future.



Striped, cleaned, lubricated. All new wooden handles.



The axe, cleaned up and the head primed up. Now waiting on the first top coat to dry. Then the edge will be sharpened.

Just get a loaf from Lidl on your way back from the doctors she said, doesn't she know you have to walk past aisles of tools on the way to the checkout? No such thing as just a loaf!

I came away with a load of F-clamps, dearest loaf I have bought for a while but the clamps aren't much short of Bessey quality for a quarter of the price so had to be done, I bought four a while ago wished I had bought more, now I have

Today my makita BO 6030 turned up i used it for 2 hours and it did a great job.

These arrived from either somewhere either in a very remote part of the UK or China - eBay listing did say located in UK but they've taken a week or two to arrive. Either way, for less than a tenner each they'll replace the old ones in the kids' helmets in the workshop at school; sealed units so the batteries are fortified within! These are too but the old ones lasted three years or so.

I picked up some of the f clamps in lidl too, haven't tried them out yet but seem ok for the price
