These and Hiluxs still command high prices over here despite their age, they’re great vehicles and difficult to kill! Good for driving on the beach and to tow a boat

^^^^^they will clean them selves but take an age to get clean best off washing the exhuaust out with petrol and after emptying put a light to it it will pop with a large flame but dies down to a candle burn untill the fuel runs out

this above is very dangerus (sorry cant spell)and not for @pete.(from his posts he knows what he is doing) but any one else wants to do this be very carefull its a danger to life only posting for info not a how to do it

Alternatively & a fair bit safer .

Just take it off , wash in petrol after immersing it in it for an hour or so to soften things a bit , empty the silencer , also shake it to get as much as possible out. Pour the contaminated petrol back in a cap-able container , recap it & remove it from the area.

Then immerse the silencer in a bucket of very hot soapy water for a while, till the water cools , agitating it in the soapy water from to time. Take it out, shake it empty , heat it with a blow lamp till it is just past hand hot to & leave it to cool & dry out. If you need to , respray the silencer with a rattle can of heat resisting paint and when it's dry refit things including any gaskets.

Same is good for a very heavily carboned up single cylinder type pot ( diesel engine ) silencer, but this time heat it till it is just past a dark red colour & the carbon will start to ignite & burn off , tap it with a baton of 2x2 or so , to knock the burnt off carbon loose and when it cold shake the ash out by banig & tapping it on the bit of wood.

No photos yet, but 2 mantle clocks for a stage production (£2 each at the bootfair) and a mint plant and a basil plant from asda for the hydroponics unit for an experiment (55p and 41p)

No tools from the boot fair as they were too expensive, the petrol tools …. well they looked stolen if you know what I mean

That's why the vast majority of my tools and stuff is engraved in several places in the approved way of:- first two letter of your surname , full house number or first three letters of the house /property name and full post code & are then photographed
I put " Stolen - ** - 50- SA18- 3PR " on every new item I get as soon as it is in the garage or home

Reason:- I had a very light fingered 23 yr old beekeeping acquaintance who I took under my wing to show him a better way of having a life , he had a perrty criminal record sheet as long as the dead sea scrolls.
He advised me how to make things hard for the average thief who is usually a low level attainer and not wanting to take a greater risk than necessary .

He told me such things :- As not putting everything neatly hung out on racks or shadow boards , as they would have to mess about getting sets of tools together making the risk of getting caught greater. About trying to get sets of spanners engraved on the biggest shiny faces as possible to make it very obvious it is stolen . Not keeping loads of tools in original cases as it means they have to take more time to carry things & above all mark everything possible several times in different places in the approved manner as thieves hate risking being caught with quickly identifiable items .
Then photograph everything & put the pictures on a pair of memory sticks which you need to store well apart .
One of mine was kept at my brothers house & I had one of his .

Got a section of the rail track today, popped up on Facebook Market for 20 pounds, bloke had loads of bits laying About, these the longest others only around 9 inches. It's been outside for ages by the looks and tops got some wear but should cleanup enough for an anvil

The Tool shafts are from Hickory blanks. Yes I know in the past it was not always cost effective, but this time I had an excuse.
Well I need to made 2 custom handles.

The wedges are cut from a few off cuts off beech.

The round wooden thing at the back is a bit of hickory turned down to make a handle for a lever style handbrake fond on Horse drawn carriages.

This is why I needed to made 2 custom shafts.



What that image does not show is how bad that shaft is fitted, the spilt and how soft the point is.

I think that’s actually a lath hammer for plastering. A dying one, fat crack down the eye.

Poor show at car boots today, I am after a few items for friends and groups.

Today two car boots were a wet soggy affair, no normal regulars, very few. So slim pickings.
But I did get a few items, one item of my "TYA To Acquire" list.



Paint spray gun. I was asked to get one for a Green house misting system. I suspect next year will not be as hot as this year. But I was asked and I got.


Pen Knife, a few will say it is a horse person knife for getting stones out of hoofs etc. I have found a broad arrow on it and 2 letters, RN, stamped on it. There is a hint of a name and more stampings, hoping a Service Number or a Stock number.

Yesterday was a better day, apart from the two hammers I got a few other bits.

My neighbour had a fence post rot out and I gave him a hand to did out the lump on concrete and fit a new one. But in the lump of concrete I found some reinforcing steel. I have since broke it out and use the smashed remains of concrete to hold the shuttering in place for the new post.
Here is the steel.



Looking at the shaft hole it is a old design.

A few may recall I got this old wooden plane.



Cleaning up it had a few markings on it. A name and a and a city.
The Name is Edwards, the makers name is Glasgow.

I had to slip into my local rummage shop yesterday, had to be done.
There I found these two.



They were tidy, but the past clean up just solidified the dirt. But there was the same name stamped in, Edwards. I now own them.



They are now being cleaned, restored and they will be investigated to their history, as much as I can.
