I was a seamen gunner , then Quarters Armourer with an additional qualification as Sailmaker, transferred to electrical artificer, left as a CPO marine engineer (electrical) that was 30 years ago , stretch where's the time gone!?

Not today, but in the last couple of days:
An infection to a stupid cut from my vans door lock...
Raging influenza..
Bursitis in my left elbow, which is a thing I'd never heard of and wish I still hadn't.
I have to move the entire contents of my house in my dispatch over the next ten days, as well as building shed space.
The weather has been perfect for doing just that, but not only can I barely stand or even eat, I have lost the use of my left arm. Apparently for two weeks at least. The exact amount of time I need it to be working for. Still, mustn't grumble eh? Grrr...

I had cortisone injections for that many years ago, do they still give them ? Resting the joint is the best course along with painkillers the injections hurt like hell. Keep it wrapped up so you don't catch it on anything as well, it makes you shout rude things.

I don't know about injections, I've been told rest and anti inflammatory. Only problem with that is that I can't have ibuprofen..
I am treating it very carefully though, even putting it down on the arm of a chair has to be done with extreme care. God knows what words i would say if I caught it on anything! Its not just the elbow either, it's spread up and down the inside of the arm, angry and red!

Has the doc seen it in that state Julian, that sounds to me like it could be serious. I'm no doctor, but sepsis comes to mind.

I went to the local minor injuries unit, so it has been seen by a medic at least, but if it doesn't improve quickly I'll get the GP to take a look. Annoyingly, as I haven't quite moved yet, I haven't changed doctors, and imI at the wrong end! On the plus side, sweetheart is doing an A1 job of looking after me!

I've had that - very painful. If you can't take brufen can I suggest using the voltarol gel.

Get some frozen food like bag of peas or sweetcorn in a tea towel and rest it on it as well, takes the sting out a bit.

My buddies are guarding the workshop, and I am armed with Tesco's finest frozen peas! Feeling a bit better today, managed to eat and the plumbing has returned to normal function at last. Just need some voltarol and something for the frustration and impatience. I asked in the pharmacy but they couldn't suggest anything!

I must confess that a 1/6 of a bottle of Bushmill's 30 yr old single malt Irish Whiskey does me far more good than a lot of special prescribed anti inflammatory medication ( have to take anti clotting meds ) so things are very limited when spinal pain wrecks me.
I've tried most styles of scotch whisky but they irritate my guts & burn my gullet for several days at a time .
