i was eyeing up one of those silkolene tins the other week but it had sold by the time i got back to it. lovely artwork!

Of to a new home in Dorset, to a camping site. They will be used as water stowage, to collect water for the flower beds.

Just had an email from banggood confirming my order for the collet chuck has been despatched - that's faster sending than the collets from Hertfordshire which have also been paid for.

They won't arrive more quickly though, but time zones will play their part I suppose....

Forgot to mention the 2nd email from them - I been accorded 'VIP2 status' which qualifies me for discounts of 8% ^ 10%. They are, naturally, time limited and exclude certain product categories but include engineering & 'good' stuff like tools etc but not electric or stuff like tablets, cameras, clothes - which is nice

I did miss that one.
The collets look to be a great price, well done.

If you don't already have a weight, I have a few lying on the shed floor I bought from a chap on Homeworkshop for a project, certainly not because I 'do' weightlifting/bodybuilding. I fear I'm about 40 years too late for that.

If you want one sending down let me check what size you need and I'll measure them to see if have one appropriate for your needs. They're among the small jobs, I know one's 4" OD.

Yours for the post/packing, which shouldn't be more than a few bits of round metal adorned with Betty Windsor's portrait

After that, you're on your own.

I do have a couple of pairs of those really cheap & nasty ones like these which I've used for years, but they tend to bend tangentially when trying to crimp on terminals etc

Thank you for the offer but I have one in mind, strangle but it came with my band saw I think it had been used by the previous owner to pull the bow down faster!

Got one of these yesterday:

Deceptively good. Very good suction & extremely compact, as canister vacuums go. Plus, they don't have some pokey locking ring for the hose, instead being a straight push fit, so far easier to lash up various hose setups. Was so impressed with it, I collared the other one they had whilst I was picking up that float valve. One for the workshop, (I've been using a little Whirlwind vacuum in there recently, which clogs the filter easily), and the other one will probably be used as a backup/site vacuum, if necessary.

Was in two minds whether to get the other one, but normally if I dither, I find they're end of line & the last one has sold, so for once I thought sod it. They do a 20L one for a fiver more, which I was debating over, (though that appears to have a lock ring hose rather than a push fit one), but I like the compactness of this one, and in all these years, I've never even come close to filling the container before it's emptied, so it seemed moot. Only possible weak point I've noted is the clips which hold the lid on. They look like they may possibly be a weak/break point at some point in the future, but easily enough bodged if they break.

your new crimps aren't suitable for mains cables they have to be double crimp . single crimp ok for vehicle wiring though

Thanks , but that kind of stuff is all I use crimped-on connectors for, never 240V.

I don't mess with stuff I can't see, but can kill you.
