Today I acquired...........

I escaped yesterday.

Friend took me out and even brought me lunch.

On the way home I brought a tin of gold paint. £0:50p




I needed the paint as my gold leaf is inaccessible to me right now.

I used the paint on my Woden vice to highlight the name and details.




Oh, the drill?

That was free.
But "Sods Law" meant chuck works. But does not fit the 2 dead breast drills I have waiting for chuck springs/ replace meant chucks.

Winch boy would live that, didn't some of them have Honda engines?

I have been offered a 247 engine for it, but I’ve heard that they are a real pain for starting and being 30 years old prob needs rebuilding.
Funnily enough I did think about putting a Honda motor in it.
I shall have a proper look at it this weekend and see what work needs doing to it.

I have an old Italjet and my plan is to put a Honda Engine into it one day, it also came complete minus engine! Start a project thread for your build it might give me some insperation to do mine!

Often it's the old crap carbs (Dellorto?) that cause poor starting, you can put a Mikuni one on and it makes a big difference.
I had a 250 single road racer with a heavily modified DT/YZ 250 MX engine that was a pig to start and ran badly , that had a Dellorto carb on it but when I got the original Mikuni off the previous owner it made a massive difference. Still weren't fast enough though....

Got some pics mate. Mine appears to be missing a bushing. Extending part flops around

as promised. arrived this morning, and it appears that "floppy" is the name of the game, unless mine is missing as well.

After eddie commented i watched a few vids. there meant to be loose so you bang the extending shaft down to hammer it in around the nail, then extend for leverage.

Update on the odds n sods I got.



From this.
The chuck was seized, the gear and handle was seized with old grease and could be removed.
The side handle was missing and the whole lot had a good covering of rust.
The Makers sticker was still viable.



Striped, after bathing in hot citric acid. The Main gear was just cleaned.
Yes, there are 2 chucks, yes I acquired another one. Yes, it does not fit any of the others I have. But it will yield spare springs.



Cleaned up, lacquered and greased. The ball bearings were replaced. The side handle was an old file handle with a cut down UNC bolt what was glued in.
It has a smooth action and the chuck will take a 9/16 or 14mm drill.



The 2 cranked handle adjustables, now work and have bean coached enamelled. I left the makers name etc, clear on the small one. The rectangle on the big one has the makers name and Patent Number on show.

Yeah, I'd guessed that - but it means when youre levering, all the force is on the edge of the rim of the outer pipe. Abushing would spread the force a bit.

Mine also has the jaws a bit chewed so they don't close flush. .
Not sure if I should fettle it with a file, or build it up with weld first - maybe with a bit of hardox
