It's going to be opened out in the jaw to fit the flats on my collet chuck but will have to wait until I'm allowed to do such stuff after my eye op tomorrow.

In addition to the spanner above ^^, today I received this from a grateful neighbour in gratitude for some help I've rendered him over the Summer months. Quite uncalled for , as I explained to him, but welcome nonetheless. :drunk:

As you are due surgery, you will not be allowed to drink that fine tipple.
I suggest you send it to me for safe keeping and a lot a QA.

Just recalled I have a bottle of Original at the back of my book case, which was also a present from a neighbour; happy day.

Nice try, but it'll only be anesthetic drops in the one eye - which won't prevent me sampling when I'm in the mood. I appreciate your offer though..... :whistle:

Whisky is a kind of anaesthetic. You could pour some in the glass, some in your eye

I have the same one, picked it out at a scrap yard. The leather washers at the end had perished so I made up some copper washers from some lighting conductor bar that I had. Will post up a picture. The metal is very good and maintains a nice sharp edge which is easy to maintain

Today i acquired an RJH Bison 10" pedestal grinder, it was disconnected at school 3 years ago & written off. After 3 years it was finally declared scrapped by the service provider. This week the premises man declared it far too heavy for them to lift into the skip safely so i offered to strip it & scrap it myself. "Saves us a job, do what you want with it" he sez, And so in a blur of Bicycle repairman style action spanners it was rapidly dissasembled & loaded into my car. The pedestal casing was very heavy but the thought of such a fine machine being skipped lent me the strength of ten ordinary men & it fair leapt into the boot! Happy days! Now to see if there is any place i can stand the thing in my workshop.

What a ridiculous question

Whisky preference is such a personal thing I'd hesitate to recommend it - it's a bit peaty [which I like], but not as 'strong' in the peat/smoke department as some I prefer. :drunk:

I'm not a big drinker but I do like a nice single malt when I'm having a dram.

When I used ti enjoy a wee dram, Jura was the one I would choose.

As @slim_boy_fat said, whiskey is a personal taste. Sample it, sample again in a different glass.
