Today I acquired 2x 8 way relay boards from eBay for my upcoming lathe retrofit project.
They were supposedly 24v but whilst testing one out tonight I got a funny smell and a bit of smoke coming from a relay. I looked at the writing on the relay and it seems they have given me 5v relay boards instead of the advertised 24v ones. I am now awaiting a reply from the seller

Today I acquired... Nothing. 
Ordered a Laptop on Saturday but accidentally told PayPal to use the card with no money on it. Got an email this evening from Dell saying it hadn't gone through. Why PayPal couldn't have told me two days ago I don't know.

A rather large acquisition and one I got a few months ago.
This is an old pre war Drummond lathe. I’m not entirely sure of what to do with it as it needs some work and I don’t know how well it’ll run but it’s very nice to look at and came with a 4 jaw vice, face plate and a lot of other attachments.
Here it is before we heaved it onto a trailer with an engine crane and pallet truck.

Ngot sure if the washing machine on full spin will have a laxative effect or not.......

You’re thinking far too recent. Some of the grime on it looks like it’s been there since Hastings.
The cylinder on the floor is actually a cover for the jack shaft that run by a belt from the motor on the floor in the left of the first picture.
The crank underneath has something to do with changing gears but I need to sit down with several cups of coffee to figure out exactly how it all works.
I got the big Doctor Frankenstein switch gear with it as well but I think I might have a hard time convincing an electrician to wire it up.
There’s a better view of the prehistoric motor on the right below and behind it you can just about see the air compressor that was also powered by the motor.

... a feeling of frustration as the piggin' piston rings wouldn't play nicely and I gave up before I broke one.

Head on tomorrow and tighten the bugga down, then do an instant break-in.

Today on site I had a chance to deploy my magnet on a string.
It was that or I would of ended up in Prison Orange.
The site has extensive water gardens, first few dips pilled nothing.
But over a few dips and about an hour I pulled up 2 nice items. I have cleaned them up under running water and this is how they are now.
The hammer head is loose, I will swop it for a wooden shaft. The Axe looks good, but I will see how it looks when the shaft dries out.
