I now pay a weekly visit to Lidl, not the local one but one a few miles away as I am told they get the good deals that are unsold from other stores.
Full set of Pry bars £2
Nice big set of Dremel type bits £5
Paella pan £3 ( its massive)
Range one of my friends he now has
Auto welding mask £5
Air powered Multi tool £5
Well worth keeping an eye out, I was told 12 larger stores get this stuff and its very random, I do remember going to Prestatyn a few weeks ago and they had a full aisle of tools?

Today was a good day.
Late start, croissants for breakfast with Mrs TYA.
Then a quick drive into a local town and to an engineering company, meet my boss. Who did "boss things" and left.
By lunch time, all the work has been done, just waiting on paint drying.
Phone a friend, do you want lunch, to which she replied; " our you buying"
I did.
Still had time on my hands, so a bimble round town.
Classic 1972 Lego recovery truck and car. No Box, but intact instructions.
A key thing a bob.
No idea what's it for, but I liked it.
Pipe cutter, well I seam to put mine down and it hides.
MOD Lip balm, a start of a Armed Forces theme.
A bit of light ready.
Pusser's Right angle torch, with filter kit. Un-issued.
Tilly Lamp in need of a lot of TLC.
Plus.

Sod that for a laugh
Iv had one in my right ear and it was agony, I was welding underneath a disco at the time and in blind panic I kneed the chassis so had a few bruises from that too!

today, i also *didnt* acquire 4 full(ish) nitrogen gas bottles (3ft tall ones)
presumably stolen + dumped - been in the undergrowth a good 12 months by tbe looks of them.
not sure if i'd have a use for them.
but they're back where i found them, so always an option.

Today I kicked the bucket...
No, not like that... like this!
Spilled scrap oil and diesel everywhere. Also knocked over all my threaded rod and pipe. Too tired to swear... just got on and mopped it up with a towel
I keep a bale of compressed sawdust from the pet shop handy - I'm a clumsy bustard too...

And that’s the sole reason why I make a list and stick to it when OH let’s me go to Lidl.
No willpower is my curse, so I stick stoically to my list and avoid all eye contact with anything in either the manstuff aisle or the chocolate aisle. Unfortunately, tomorrow will test me. Have to visit Go Outdoors in Stockton followed by a dive shop in Sunderland, and if Stockton has me wavering, Sunderland will push me right over the edge

For a while, we had a Lidl clearance store in Gloucester. All sorts of stuff in there in pallet sized cardboard boxes all mixed up & you had to root through it. Most of the clothing was 50pence, there were odd tools in there, but you had to hunt, looking at the markings this stuff came from all over the country. There were a load of boxes outside the checkout, so I asked what price is that .... free was the answer. There were loads of people dragging it out, obviously going into the boot sale at the weekend.

Nylon gear I hate it .
In a military hospital back in 1973 a young lad had been filling up an armoured car with jerry cans when someone chucked a petrol bomb over the wall at him whilst he was doing the filling , it hit him on the back , the rag bung came out .. result ...both nylon overalls and his light weight trousers got soaked back & front from the petrol bomb and his jerry can of petrol as he fell back , everything ignited in a loud bang and melted on him . He was in a special 12 x 10 foot double glazed burns cubical living on filtered sterile air laid flat on his back on a floating bed of pink opposite my hospital bed . The air filter set up humming away all the time , he was the pinkest looking guy I've ever seen .
Heaven only knows how he survived , he'd lived in that cubical for nine weeks .. & would for another six or seven more as he wasn't allowed out other than for more surgery till the last of his many skin grafts had healed . It must have driven him crazy ..it would have sent me round the bend that's a dead cert .

Some heavy cast iron street sewer lids had a central bolt sticking up in the keyhole to stop those that didn't have the right key nicking them for a trip to the scrappies .. it worked for a few weeks till these enterprising people got hold of a disc cutter & some metal cutting blades to replicate the key .

In 82 they nylon uniform on the sleek grey messengers did it for those caught in the hot bits.

Picked up the Clarke version a few weeks ago.
Nice and compact but lots of power.

I was surprised how powerful it is, it runs nice and smoothly too. I'm missing the tables off it but I'll make up something for it
