Yeah Fizzy, might be interested. I only have a small size Clarkson collet chuck with one tool. I tried to remove it but it seems quite solid.

Yes the Clarksons are the hardest to remove! Only a tiny gap.
Not my idea but suggested by other people on here and other forums.
Get hold of a pair of Jacobs JT3 taper wedges - the inside edges need grinding or filing to open up a bit - I used a powerfile.
Then I used a big Record Vice to squeeze hard

Going forward buy an Er32 collet chuck set
They stick as well - as do all Morse Tapers - so buy these - I am always having to give a little tap to release. These will NOT work with the Clarkson though - not a big enough gap.

I'd be wary of knocking it from one side like that, it's probably no worse than a drift through the slot in a morse taper spindle but the opposed wedges from the post before guarantee there's no excessive side loading that could potentially bend a spindle.
You are correct - that is why for the very stuck Clarkson you need to squeeze from both sides but with my newer attachments the gap is too big. It only needs a light tap now.

Ask them when they will be in.
Try the JT2 - might work but might be too big - if they do no grinding needed. They cheap enough.
If you are totally stuck you can borrow mine - can pop in post.

Home to my own bed, 1 day early. Hotels beds are ok. But they are not your own.
To "avoid congestion" I took the A roads home as much as I could.
All the shops and stops were on the way home, no more than 100m change. They were all near shops where I could get liquid refreshments.
Shop 1.
A Charity shop. poor pickings, in the shop and out back.
But a donor was found.
I am always on the hunt for good hand saw handle fixings.
£0:50p got me these 2 fixings.
With a saw attached.
The only thing wrong is the rust and the finish on the handle, almost too good to bin.
We will see.
Shop 2.
Mamod Line Shaft.
I got myself a few Mamod Workshop tools and an engine. But no Line shaft. E bay was bare and the other places wanted silly money.
I found this, decent price and in good condition.
Bean lovely restored.
Shop 3.
Now, as I said I have the workshop tools, but the press was "wrong".
The wrong drive pulley (Top RHS).
So when I see this item for "Daft" money.
I spent daft money.
Happy days.

Plus Note to self. Read E mails.
The above Mamod Press is only wrong in one way.
The Drive pulley is the wrong one.
The punch pin is designed to pass through the base.
The wrong item is/was a alternative, only offered by Mamod for a short period of time, to allow the press to be powered from a large flywheel engine.

Bought a vice from arc euro trade. 90mm version. We'll see if I grow out of it...
Is it analogue or digital? In other words does it have pins or can you move the jaws and lock it in any position?
Got this today off one of the senior volunteers at the Heritage railway I volunteer at. Got it for nothing. It's been off the road since 2013 and requires a shed load of work to get it back to roadworthy condition. Always wanted a Defender - this one is a 1993 200tdi 110 that was originally a Scottish Water Board vehicle. Hopefully get it moved from it's current location to my mate's workshop in the next couple of weeks and get it up on the ramp for a full assessment. After a quick look and poke about underneath it, the chassis requires major metalwork surgery. It may not be saveable and a new chassis may be required.

It has pins but moving the jaw seems easy and faster than a conventional vice from what I've seen.
Mine come in from the side and a real pain to line up unless I am doing something very wrong.
Great for repetition but not for 1 off jobs.
