Yesterday i acquired! A 15kg Bruce anchor. We were on a weekend sailing trip over to the Kentish beer festival at the Three Tuns pub Lower Halstow. Splendid weekend of superb ale, food & company! On getting our anchor up on sunday morning found it was stuck. Three quarters of an hour with two strong lads & i to get it to the surface. Turned out we had hooked someones lost anchor & good length of 10mm chain. Got ours back & got the other anchor as well, Had to leave the chain as it was caught round summat big & we didnt have the horsepower to free it. Buoyed the end & let it go for someone else!

The Luftwaffe lost quite a lot of ironmongery all around the larger area there, didn't they?
Funnily enough as i was unloading the bruce from the boat this morning a friend mentioned that he had caught an undercarriage leg & wheel just inside the entrance to Stangate a couple of years back, too big to get aboard his boat they had to drop it back. He reckoned it had been there a long time. There must be a lot of wreckage ancient & modern all over that area.

First day back to work after a week off , acquired a free height gauge and some old chair wood to make a few handles for my older metal files.
Purchased some cheap hacksaw blades , have to see if they are ok but they are just for tiny brass pipe.

A new triathlon style wetsuit, bought as a “If today’s Colonoscopy goes well” present to myself. And it did.
Seriously sexy thin neoprene, tight enough to leave little to the imagination, and a pervert’s delight to wear, am looking forward to contorting myself into it and getting into some open water swimming. Off work for the next couple of weeks on Doctor’s orders, (haven’t slept well for a long time what with one thing and another, and when I told the Doc that I drive an artic for a living, she prescribed a course of sleeping tablets and signed me off straight away...), so hoping to get in the water asap.
Definitely NOT looking forward to putting it on though. Even after losing half a stone in weight with worry in the last 2 weeks, it has to be literally peeled on using copious amounts of either talcum powder or baby oil
