Bright yellow is my second favourite van colour, had a yellow Astra van that became known as yellow peril (said fast in a Yotkshire accent)

I really hope not as a mate asked me to transfer some pictures to digital years ago for his aunty and uncle and lets just say they had lead a very open lifestyle.

Needs some panel beating but no rust to speak off and runs well. 120k 11 plate.
Will give it a proper look over tomorrow. Hate buying vehicles at night.

About what I thought after looking this morning. Few dents to sort and a couple of patches to die grind and paint but mostly just road dirt.

i do that, then a spray of whatever paint is lying around.

Hit the bottom to remove the sticker residue and looks much better.
Couple of sections need attention. Also a small dent on front Wing.

Offside faired worse.

Have access behind so shouldn't be too much effort to tidy up.

Bonnet. Seems a common place as the catch damages it from below.

New gearstick assembly on route. Bushing is very worn and sloppy and the stick wobbles around . Nothing wrong with the box mind.

She's sat for long periods and then done the odd shirt journey less than 3000miles in the last year so she's smoking a bit under heavy acceleration. Popped some good fuel in and got a decent run in today.

It was utterly rubbish.
I was able to collect it yesterday, but returned it today.
It was sent back to the "Shop" and explained that it was crap. In a few choice words.

So called working order and "safe".

A full refund was given.

So I ambled home via a silly shop and was chatting with the owner.

It has some fuel in.
Not sure what it is, but it does not have a good nose to it.

The pump seams to work and it didn't leak on the way home.

Few days before I can get to really play with it.

The "tiny" torch lives.
For a given value of Life.

The fuel filler cap is jammed tight.
It is now packed round in releasing fluid, soaked into a cloth and sealed with cling film.

I knew had some fuel, or at least a flammable fluid.

So.


Pre heating.
This was staged.
To show the flame. The real test was done outside with 2 fire extinguishers standing by. Plus a 2 safety humans.
Burning Ardvark is never good.



A small glimmer of flame.
Staged, but for the only reasons to show.
Short blast with CO2 had us safe and retired to the safety of "outside".



The fuel in the tank has lost it's volatiles. But this quick test showed it has hopes to be restored to fully working.


The next 2 images are a case of why this could of gone wrong.

Blow back.
A decent blast with CO2 to put the flame out. Them a sudden drenching in AFFF. Foam extinguisher. Had us all safe.

It looks dangerous, but it was done under control and nothing flammable was near by.


Rebuild time soon.

None, other than it looks like a petrol blow lamp.
