That’s what timber baskets are for isn’t it? Acquired quite a few useful lengths of steel, timber for casings, and wood for burning.
They think putting alloy wheels on the new unit to save weight will increase their payloadI didn’t let out a chuckle in the office when they came up with that, much
Timber baskets are ok until you start acquiring steel that’s anything up to 10 metres long
. And I even get the fitters to saw it up for me so’s it will fit in my van 
.As for payload, I’ve got a 40’ rear steer on today and I’m 30 tons empty
, and it’s always worse on a Monday morning when he fridge/freezer is full of nice food 
. (Coupled to a double extender, payload is just shy of 10 tons...)Lifting gear had its 6 monthly LOLER Inspection a few weeks back, we use a company from Middlesbrough who come to the yard and do all the Hiab trucks over a weekend, we just lay the gear out at the front of the wagon on the preceding Friday night. The Boss walked past my wagon, saw the gear and smiled while shaking his head, “Martyn, take this as a compliment when I say I’m quite confident that if I sent you to load the bow of the Titanic, you’d manage it!”

In my defence, I asked the lads whose containers I was collecting and they said yes.
The fact that it probably wasn’t theirs to give away is an irrelevance

Knights in shining armour one and all, and I’m quite happy to admit that I wouldn’t want to do what they do. Recovering a vehicle when traffic is hurtling past at stupid speeds is not for me, so they have my respect.
The good Men at the front end need all the praise we can give them.
But They all say they are let down by the Office side.
Big Yellow company being regarded as "not the best office staff".

It was on this huge old radial drill at my old work, the drill is a WWI era machine, belt driven from a single source then gear driven through the entire machine. All the nuts were weird sizes we just don’t use nowadays, lots looked to have been cut by hand. I think the thing weighed 3t.
When I was aghast at that weight, the guy showed me a 6t shaper he had, single headed on sliding rails with two T blocks so you could leave one job set up. The building is really dark but I managed to get a pic of the door. Again another line shaft machine retrofitted with motor drive.

You will struggle to cut rebar with that as actual rebar cutters have slots for the bar, and don’t so much cut but shear the bar. Would be much more at home in a general engineering workshop.

Cuts re-bar good enough for their needs. There is plans for other uses in the future.
That's the one the club wanted, we had a look at the other items and I acquired it and got it home.
The deal is that it is theirs, but I have access to it when I need.

I definitely acquired the Sunbeam today, its off and in the workshop. I started it and thats it. Throttle is sticky, carb drips, bars are loose. So needs showing a bit of TLC and a spanner or two.
It looks proper well on the back of the Pickup

Interesting times, folks with cars fit them with bike carbs, folks with bikes fit them with car carbs.
Actually I had a GSXR400R in the early 90's which was a four but was fitted from the factory with twin carbs, proper mini hooligan machine not very fast but tiny and weighed almost nothing it inspired much foolish riding in the two weeks I owned it.

Not tested yet, but it is complete and looks like it may live again.

A Leytool Aleen Key set, complete and all but one of the ratchets work.

Jasic pro tig 200p for use in the van.
Already put it in the garage and did a few test runs with it and compared to my r-tech 160 it's such a smoother arc.
Cant wait to actually get some jobs on the go and use it to it's full potential.
Does make me think what the rest of the jasic range is like as I am quite impressed with first impressions.
