Ambled round the car boot early this morning, normal tack, rubbish and "why pay that when I can get it new cheaper"
Mrs Vark got some good deals on some bedding plants, guess what I am doing after lunch.
I had all but given up and was going to take my money home, when I came across this lot.
£2, worth it for the box alone.
Moore and White Imperial micrometre. £3.00
2 Dial Indicators £5.
Both box's reek of Linseed oil, but all working.

The gauge on the left of the image is additional to the kit. Looks like it has been in there for a while.

Better news. In laws are putting in the bedding plants.

Just been given a box of assorted old spark plugs.
The Big Middle Champion is clearly used. The rest seam to be new.
Will be rummaging later.

I probably still have the forerunner of the quicktest block somewhere, it's slightly larger than a standard 13A plugtop with 3 buttons that open cable clamps to hold the bare conductor wires.
When I was an apprentice in the 70's most appliances came without a plug, so factory workers would bring obviously new kettles, irons etc. to the maintenance dept asking us to test them as they "didn't work" knowing we would fit a plug to test it and leave it on afterwards. They stopped coming to me when I would demonstrate the item working then release the cable from the quicktest plug and hand it back to them plugless

I first saw one a few weeks ago in a video from Big Clive but had no idea what they were called until I was given one.
I made something very similar when I was younger (I remember it in my old bedroom so at least 6 years ago) from 3 big alligator clips screwed to the inside of a lid of a plastic box, each one colour coded with insulating tape and an inline switch from a lamp. The idea was the box could be sat over it all, then the switch switched on.
Okay, so there was no safety interlock like on a real one but provided you turned it off before opening it, it was fairly safe, right?
Wrong, the bolts holding the clips in place passed through the case and were live and uninsulated on the outside
. Thankfully I got my dad to check I'd wired the plug right and he took it off me
. He's probably still got it somewhere, I'll post a picture if I can find it.

Cheers, wanted one since I was a kid. Was never allowed one back then, but I figure I'm probably ok to have one at 36 years old.
Joined a local club and spent an enjoyable afternoon learning a new skill.
There's something very satisfying about a precision engineered piece of kit, no matter what it is.

I only cut the face and lands, until I took this picture I hadn't noticed how coarse the clearance was.

I like that,recently got a weirauch(?)hw35 at auction, can get within an inch of bull at 75 feet with open sights but used tripod rest, would prefer air charged though for quietness...
so what make is it Jim?
