Not much to show on this at the moment. Got a price off Slideway services for a for regrind, but leaving the column face at 500quid. Although it's only the x axis that needs a bit of fettling. So should be a fraction of that price, I guess we'll see. So while I'm finding time to take that down to Nuneaton, I prep'd the tray and base, for paint, and gave it a blow over.

With it all striped down, and very easy that was to. I chucked the Ramhead in the lathe so I could just it a light clean with scotchbrite cloth.

There's no need to d anything with the spindle etc as it looks like new.

Hey mate , its time you got some more pics up now its finished , did you get the dro fitted. Out of interest what tool holder are you using on your mill , from what you can see of i in your other thread it looks like you have done a great job

Chris, it's still a way off finished: I've a bad habit of getting something so it works and never finishing it off, there's always something that needs doing.

So the top still has to be reground, the DRO and the door I cut into the base needs painting. And I'd like to fit powered feed, i was going to build one but I'm keeping an eye out for one instead

Nice mill! very very jealous. Going to be beautiful when finished, nice work.
There's one one fleabay now going for nearly 4.5K! Not sure if he will get anywhere near that but they are sought after.

Had a look at the listing, plenty of tooling and both head and... a slotting head. AND it looks mint so yes worth every penny. I had thought of selling mine and buying a Bridge port, but decided to keep her a little longer and enjoy using once totally finished.


yes it's bought a set of them about 4yrs ago when they were only 80quid.

I've a Clarkeson Auto collet for it as well but find this quicker for most stuff

Did you ever consider the spacer modification to give you a larger gap between the spindle and the table top dr.shox ? I only have the knuckle head on my tom senior and was thinking of doing it. Its a simple steel square made of 3"x 1/2" steel that sits under the column.

Soooo, I finally got around to taking everything bar the column to Slideways Services. Where was little wear in the wearing parts, but since I'd to the trouble of painting it, why not.

The top of the knee has been frosted (Hand scraped to produce pockets for the oil to lay in.

It's too cold in the workshop to do anything tonight.

Time to get this machine finished. I've just bought a TS Major, so this mill needs to go.

No although I can't remember, how much it was.


Got the lead screws, and thrust bearings cleaned up. Not a trace of wear on either of them, the Z Axis is just the same.

Sorry about the pictures, I'll have to dig the tripod out.

I need one of those thrust bearings for the z-axis on my tom senior, must get one.

its a pity we don't have a regrind service that I know of in Ireland,it looks like brand new and should be just as good!

Have you ever looked for one squazy ? I'd doubt you'd find one but there might be someone doing it, especially in the north.
