Wow!
An Olympic effort and journey and more, very glad it’s an on going story Gareth, quite humbling to be honest.

You would be surprised how little effort I actually put in. Most of which was just getting to appointments on time.

However, the effort put in by the consultants, GPs, specialists, paramedics, nurses, healthcare assistants and even the hospital porters on my behalf during the pandemic and the difficult conditions imposed upon them in even the green zones of the local surgery and Norfolk and Norwich hospital has been absolutely phenomenal.

All I had to do was sit or lay there and let them do their stuff........ which has either brought me back or kept me alive on more than one occasion.

How naive am I thinking this thread was all about an overworked welder that gave up the ghost at a vital moment.
Just couldn't stop reading through the next post waiting for the point when the welder to shat itself just did not expect that no wonder you've got a publishing contract.

The welder is still going strong. It was used for a couple of hours yesterday. It will be used for a couple of hours tomorrow (Monday) and maybe two hours on Wednesday. None of these are paying jobs, just favours for a couple of friends and for me to keep my hand in.
Yes, I know that is committing the cardinal sin of the professional, but I am never going to be fit enough to do it as I did before. I have decided to wind down the general fabrication part and sell off the bicycle frame section of my business. I'm going to begin concentrating on the artistic side and sculpture frames and armatures side of things and keep the bespoke special needs garden tools, pallet bars and plant supports, along with commercially hiring out my fete and gala games.

Wow, just wow, i soooo glad youre pulling through and beating the bugger, youve a talent in writing, i was gripped just reading the last few posts tbh. How did the books sell? Any good?. I really cant believe, all this came about from setting your overalls on fire ! Maybe you should write some welding books ? Crikey i asked how you was and got a Carlsberg reply!. I was feeling rather unhappy at the beginning but when i read further and youve turned it around i was overjoyed.Keep with it Brother ! Best Wishes Pauly

Oh No!

Disaster, absolute disaster and on a Bank Holiday weekend, it couldn't have happened at a worse time for me.












I ran out of 85/15 gas.... time for me to go MMA!

I have that same machine and it’s nice to see how much use you have given it and still going strong.

The current tally with my R-Tech 250 Mig welder is still Roll №181 of 15kg X 0.8mm A18 wire but №182 is only about 100g away.

That is a total to date of 2715kg and it will probably never exceed 2800kg whilst this welder remains in my ownership.
At the end of February I closed my business Cargo Cycles for good, as it has fallen victim to the perfect storm of my illness, Covid lockdowns and The Brexit.... in truth it was the Brexit and the exporting fiasco that finished off Cargo Cycles.

Over the next few months I will be selling some items such as my JD² M3 bender and all the dies that I have accumulated and my large manual tube roller and all the dies I have for it, and quite possible my Warco single phase 10" cold cut saw will also be put up for sale, but for the time being I will be keeping My R-Tech mig welder for the foreseeable future.

My illness has begun to stabilise but I still have serious mobility and fatigue issues and I will never be able to work anywhere near a decent a fraction of what I was capable of, even as recently as three years ago.

@Gareth0123 Sorry to hear of your health and the business. Hopefully the former will get better soon and you never know 2800kg maybe achieved.

Good to hear things are starting to settle down, so don't be too hasty to sell anything as the future may turn out better than you currently think. Take things slowly, and get well soon
