I could really do with some more mill tooling more than anything, a better vice, a set of parallels and an indicator stand would go a long way but the chances are the next machine I buy will be better bench grinder.

Thanks to @gaz1 I'm going to be the owner of a Quorn cutter/grinder which he spotted on HomeWorkshop and alerted me to. Made by the Seller's friend, now departed, it is in pieces so much head-scratching and fettling in my future is predicted. But for £20 + p&p I can't go wrong - the motor is worth that on its own.

That's 2 more projects added to the list, the bench press and now this , but it all keeps the brain active

if you look at pic 2 slim hes incorporated a slider lever so you can slide piece across the face of the grinder wheel handy adaption

Well between my grinders and now 4 welders and hand tools I feel a little limited.

I have contacts for my machine work but just gotten rid of lathe, press, induction heater, and various other things as needs must.

Only things on my list not which I think I would use/enjoy would be a pipe bender and tube notcher as plan for more tubular work.

I am also looking into a mobile life for my vehicle work also, and saving up for a quick jack style system for home use. To try and make things easier.

a nice solid workbench/fixture table is my priority at the moment - i just need to work out a way of keeping it clear enough to work on!
a furnace and casting equipment is next on my list of "requirements".
and a belt grinder - i've reached the limits of my clarke linisher and the bosch pbs60 belt sander.

<edit> a van. i need a van. and not just as another (mobile) storage shed.


id also like a new pillar drill with more capacity
i have a very nice meddings pacera benchtop, but its only got a 12" max depth, and about 3" quill movement.
pita for drilling crossways through scaff boards.

long term, "nice to have" is an ac/dc tig.
but its a lot of money for something i wouldnt use often.
i cant honestly think of anything else:
i simply dont do the sort of projects that would warrant a mill - my hand shaper is still packed up, 18 months after buying it.
I have a lathe, but hardly ever notice that its still in bits, and unused.

I'm after a 60t hydraulic ironworker, I hate drilling holes in the drill and cutting steel in the saw. a nice punch and crop would do me just fine!

I built a new, 800 sqft workshop a year or so ago that replaced the old 12' x 24' one and honestly thought I'd have more space than I could ever need.

I now have my 3 little classic cars inside and really only need a floor mounted pillar drill and a decent grinder to finish it all off. The trouble is, since I put the lathe and blast cabinet in last year there's nowhere to put them!

How does that happen?

I felt that I couldn't impose on the local garage on a regular basis, so per post #12, I've just pulled the trigger on this for £85, 10-ton capacity which will be more than enough for my needs. I did multiple searches and couldn't find a better one - there were cheaper, but they were just that....cheap.....

The steel U channel will be either free or costing not a lot from local fabricators/stockists so I'm going to build my own bench-top job as I;ve no space for a full height one.

Yet another project on the list.....

If you make the feet pivot then you can hang it on the wall and it will only take up the width of the channel while it's not in use. I would advise having the pump monuted with the hose pointing down as some of these can a a nightmare for getting air in the system.

I was planning some set-up in which the pump is horizontal when in use [copying the garage one] but stored vertically by a hanger/clip arrangement when not. Thanks for the heads-up re air getting.
