I stripped down the Draper torque wrench today and found nothing broken but the steel roller and ball bearings were covered in very old thick grease.

I've cleaned it up and rebuilt it with some new grease then tested it on my new tool, after fiddling with the adjustment it's much closer to spec but it does seem to vary 3 to 4 Nm.

Did adjusting it involve turning part of the handle end and then locking it with the large nut? That's how my dad's old Draper is adjusted, if you ever find that fine thread nut has come loose on the handle you have to suspect the tool's accuracy.
