In the 5th pic in your second set of photos there are some spindle parts with what looks like an INT30 sidelock endmill holder.
Pretty sure it's not Morse.

I've got a facemill you could have but its INT50.

oh right I wondered what that was . So I could use a mt3 collet chuck or something in that ?

Umm, ideally you would buy an INT whatever to er32 chuck and use that.

My Tom Senior is 2 mt in the vertical head and 30 int in the horizontal spindle. RDG tools do er32 chucks for reasonable money.

I bought a load of these on eBay for a Cnc spindle I have. £22 each delivered. They are iso30 but if you unscrew the pull stud voila INT30.

the eagle eyed folks will have spotted everything , even nuts and bolts , washers etc have a number 6 or 9 stamped on them , no idea what it means but i like it !

Most likely these machines were assembled in the factory in batches. This would have been machine number 6 (guess) of the batch. They were numbered so that during assembly, when things were scraped and/or fettled to fit, the newly fitting parts could all be assembled on the machine they came off.

My Thiel 158 was exactly the same when I stripped the knee down.

i must say, thats a super fine job your doing on it, it looks amazing so far.
all the old stuff was built like a brick s**t house and its testament to that.

Thanks fellas, it should look great when finished. Might need a scrape here and there when it's all back together, plan on fitting a DRO to it also bring it up to date

and on another note i managed to pick up a vice for it . thought i would strip it down as far too dirty for me , plus it would need painting !

Looks like 30Int to me but you'll have to measure it to be sure as it could be 25 or 40.
This is a ISO30 toolholder which is the same size taper as INT but doesn't use the drive dogs and has a pullstud:

Looks like you have won, international taper trumps morse any day for a milling machine .

What about r8 ?

I had a small knee mill with R8 and I now have a Bridgeport with R8 and I'd take INT30 over it all day long.
Much stiffer tool holding and the taper is only using for locating and the dogs provide the driving torque.

the r8 is grand but the int30 or above would make for a more solid machine, wouldnt mind if mine was above a r8 but i have a lot of the r8 stuff now and its grand for what id do.
