There is nothing wrong with using the about methods and tools. But using a good Notcher is a revelation

Also, I think the bearing squeak is the drive belt slipping. It's just one I found in the shed, so I'm thinking i need to get a proper one...

I've lost touch with Ron Cooper (been a few years but he was still building at the time albeit much lower volume), last spoke to Alec Bird a few months ago (used to work with the cantankerous old git when i was a kid), another name that comes to mind is Alan Shorter but i couldn't list all the framebuilders that built for him
