Tungsten Nozzles for Sandblaster

Hi,

Wanted to ask, what size diameter of air nozzle is best for sandblasting gun? That is when using this 3mm nozzle for sandblasting. I am going to make my own sandblast gun, as two that I have bought already gone bad

The gun is going to be the suck blast gun type. Do I need 3mm nozzle also for air, or a smaller one? What type do I need for best effect? I have custom made 3phase compressor, which filed my 50 liter balloon at 10 bar approximately in 1 minute. That’s ~ 500 liters/min as I understand. Till today I was using cheap 5mm metal nozzle gun, air delivery tap went bad. It was also a little bit overkill for compressor, i don’t like when it is on all the time when I sandblast.

Welcome to the forum.

Suck (syphon) guns like a lot of airflow, 3mm may not be enough but worth a try.

I've been thinking along these lines too, I have a Clarke SB4 which works OK but the nozzles don't last long.

I'd be interested to know how you get on, "Homemade Blasting Gun" would be worth a thread of its own.

Custom I was thinking of making it with big ON/Off tap, maybe from 3/8" tube. I have something in my mind, let see what I can do. Need to order this nozzle too. It is hard to tell after all what I want to make, as English is not my native language

Will 3mm nozzle be enough? Or not overkill for my compressor? As I understand there was some law that needs to be looked when change nozzle for suck in gun. Need something to be matched.

Clarke SB4 - is it good gun? Maybe there are some other recommendations for cheap, but well made gun?? Also need gun, that can change nozzle, best would be to fit this 3mm Tungsten nozzle, that is 10mm diameter. Need syphon type.

It's OK for the money, it's more suited to spot blasting rather than doing large areas.

The nozzle is slightly larger than 10mm outside diameter so I was thinking about drilling out an old nozzle to take the tungsten one.

The air mechanism looks the same as my both cheap ones, that gone bad. Maybe some other?

Dredging up an old thread here, but just for information, I used rtbcomps recommendation for constructing a tungsten nozzle to replace the fast-wearing ceramic types for the 10/20 gallon blast pots.
However, it was possible to get a 3/8 BSP to 10mm compression fitting, so no modifications/drilling are required - nozzle in one end and then screw into the existing ball valve handle.
I got mine from ebay from a seller called 'davidmees' for £2.13 delivered.
Search for '3/8 BSP to 10mm Compression Brass fitting'.
The 3mm tungsten nozzle I got from Frost (part number C104), but I could have got one much cheaper, again from ebay, from seller 'pete_booth'

dont bother just push the nozzle in to the pipe and hold with a jubilee clip

Thanks for that. Can a 2.5mm nozzle be used with j-blast supafine? I'm using a 14cfm compressor so want to use a small nozzle

yes grain size of of supafine is 0.2 to o.7mm
