Tungsten sharpener?

I got one of these "wheels" a while back, industrial diamond, mounts on a standard Makita bench grinder. Couldn't do a better job. I took the end cover off the grinder. It fitted on the shaft with no adapter.

It would seem he only came on here to sell, as soon as his sales dropped off, he stopped posting

I believe he also had some family stuff to deal with so perhaps he has just dropped it. I got one of his sharpeners, they are very handy. I didn't have a bench grinder set up at the time so decided to get one.

I talked to him today need a new washer for my grinder , hes very much still on here , nice chap ! very good tool !

This is the diamond wheel, well actually CBN. The diamonds are on the back for a few mm as well. The wheel is so smooth that you can touch it with no skin lost. The alignment turned out to be perfect, no shims or eccentric washers. I use the 45 deg face against the rest to get the basic shape (yes I know), and then clean up using the front or back flat. Despite the very fine diamond grit the grinder is able to remove enormous amounts of Tungsten.

The wheel came from here, which isn't going to help anyone, but the type will be available.

That looks perfect, but maybe not as cheap as the diamond wheels intended for angle grinders, which I think can be had for around £6 for 2.................

The ones I can get in NZ have very few diamonds embedded, they make a very rough electrode. The thin ones like are used in dremel type sharpeners are fairly rough. I'm ending up with electrodes that look like glass. This is the third grinder I've made, and by far the best.

Of course it doesn't make a whit of difference when you touch it with filler rod or dip it in the weld pool

I was going to buy one but 150$$ is bit high for me haha, I have a hudmut and use it all the time, been great, also use bog standard grinder elsewhere when I forget the mut :S

for tungsten grinding I use a 100mm diamond coated disk in a slitting saw adaptor on a bench drill (the photo is with a 125mm disc)

I seem to recall that Hudmut posted up how he made himself a grinder, then forum members got on his case to make and sell them, including me, he was a great guy and helped me out, even offered to sell me the remainder of the grinders as he had lost interest in them so I could sell them on, and pass the drawings etc if I recall... Nice bloke, I use mine daily

Hudmit v Bench (these are shot at 100mm Macro so you can get a good look) to an electron those grooves are like throwing a grain of sand down the Grand canyon!

My grinder, he made these for those who wanted more options, top bloke, promised me one and came through!
