Thanks! They get hot and trip! Lazy buggers but will monitor workload. I'm still going to be using the same blasting nozzle as if I was just using the 3hp on its own, if it goes well step up a nozzle size. Didn't get the oil less to do hard work but see if it can earn it's keep without knackering it too quickly

I must have imagined seeing nrv's in the pipe fitting, so where us best to source? Did look on the Sealey site but none on there in the air fittings catalogue. .......

most fast running compressors take badly to being run for long periods. i have one that will run 24 seven that i built myself its a westinghouse airbrake pump of a bus

The point at which it will operate as a one way valve and pass air/gas.

So, at less than 0.5 bar (about 7 psi) it can't be expected to work as it needs a little pressure to operate against the spring.
This isn't any kind of problem for a compressor setup where you'd never be using the system with the tanks so low.

I notice the swing valves have a higher max pressure of 16Bar. I'd be inclined to go one size up (3/4 instead of 1/2" BSP) for the lower flow resistance also.

your rite a blast pot using 90cfm of air only uses half inch bsp pipe and fittings

What he is saying is the nrv reduces the size of the bore, so if you get a larger one its internal bore will match. That's all

i can see that people wish to these things as well as they can and as correctly as possibel but i think often loose sight of whats actualy required.

2.5 hp compressor dosent move much air in the scheme of things. and when its at 7 bar its an even smaller volume, and air is good at going down pipes, technicaly yes a 3/4 NRV would flow better but its just not needed.

to put it into comparision i use a 3/4 nrv between a road compressor and workshop compressor. ( as the screw compressor vents down when not running so would drain the tanks down and haveing pressure on the compressor wouldn't help starting much). and that vave can handel the full 130 cfm flow of a road compressor.

But with that mentality no would have ever tuned the mini to make the Cooper, the golf to make the gti and so on. It was actually for my setup, and if you are already buying something. The guy pointed something out, what difference does it make if you think it's a waste of time, others may not and would like the best from what little they have.

with the amount of overkill it'd be like pressing mini body pannels out of 6mm. just pointing out that flow wise a 3/4 valve s not required and it'll proably cost quite a bit more than a 3/8" or 1/2"

personaly i think a nrv between piston compressors is pointless, when i had multipul small compressors i never botherd only the screw compressr requires it. as for my mentality been anti tuneing i think not. i belive in tuneing systems as a whole. no point putting a garret GT45RS on a 998 mini

But its not pointless when you have different operating pressures and different settings on the safety blow off valve.
