Final coat of paint done. Need to tidy up the lettering. Now the next issue. The original quill (left hand) is worn but has the straight shank drill chuck. The other quill (right hand) is in good condition but has a worn 1mt taper. My plan is to reduce the length of the taper housing and

drill to accommodate a straight shank. Not sure yet....

It might be worth machining it to MT2. It'll give you something to do when you get the Empire finished

Painting is now complete. All parts ready for assembly. My next drill will be modified in certain areas. As I can see room for improvement. So I want another one please......union A1 if any of you guys have one.

True.its almost finished. Just got the motor bracket to finish and make the belt adjustment leaver....close to original as possible. I have found another complete empire....but the tool is wanting to much....500 to be exact....I only paid 150 for the one I got...*** greedy

I can...I can basically pin it and weld it. Problem being is isn't very thick around that area. The disappointing bit about it was the old chap I got it from had it all those years and was given to him by his father that had it from new.

I know it broke at the weakest point but nothing a bit of braze wouldn't sort.
Not like it's going to have a hard life after it's finished.

Go on, you know you want to and no better man to give it a new lease of life.

I might do. It's all here so will put it on the to do when I get a batch of cast welding to do.

Next on the list to refurbish is this progress no2 drill. That's getting it shortly. I make another thread for that..although I have got my eyes on a 3A drill...

Got the quill sorted. Had a day out and a visit to sea dog who kindly drilled the quill to take a 1/2 arbor. Today I drilled and tapped )bsw of course) a mounting to keep the arbor in place. Nice job done.
