The way I was taught was root pass straight up the centre, then starting at the bottom a triangle weave; up to the left, hold, over to the right, hold, down to the bottom, hold and carry on with that pattern.
That is what ChuckE2009 advocates on his YouTuve videos - he really is pretty good with stick welding!
So what did we settle on, 6013 suck for vertical up? I've spent the last couple of days practicing and I'm happy with fillets but I can't v up or down for the life of me. The puddle just runs all over the place. Should I just give up on 6013 and get some 7018?
Welding 3mm plate with 2.5 6013 DCEN about 80amps.
Just out of curiosity @Brad93 what job would specify downhill 6013, obviously a suitable cel based 6013. Other than speed and bead profile I can't see any benefits.
