its gone to court now

Recylcing in Calderdale has had a very rocky road, initially it was done by a local charitable company called Kerbside that employed people with learning difficulties to sort and collect the rubbish, the council eventually chose to use SITA a very large waste company and send the money to global shareholders rather than benefit the local community. People were happy with Kerbside's services and I know the tendering process was criticised........

Councils like to brag about how many tonnes they recycle and they have targets to meet. Stuff that gets sold on doesn't appear in these figures.

One thing I did recently for my lathe etc. was buy several shiny doorstops with rubber bands and a rubber base from Aldi for 50 p each as clearance items .. not bad steel round blanks that are 75 mm across by 75 mm tall or 85 mm x 60 tall .
I'll certainly keep an eye out for them again.

I was told at our local recycling that one of their workers was sacked for taking something for himself from one of the skips, they said that the whole recycle works is under constant cctv and that no-one is allowed to take anything. That was after me asking about a metal box I fancied. Anyway, I picked up the box and said that 'it's a good thing I took this here with me to empty', put it in the car and never heard more.

I used to have the back gate key to my local tip, and I could go shopping for tat after they closed, but it changed to a private firm and now the whole place is like Alcatraz, which is not surprising with the price of scrap metal now.

A good source of welding gas cylinders though if they are open to a bung.

CCTV - yes, our local tip has several cameras but they don't look to be in very good nick. I suspect their functionality. However, the staff are very hot on telling you that you're being watched by the cameras. They'd know which areas aren't properly covered, of course.

Cleaned up nice, but I will be replacing the bearings in the motor, I used some very old sign writers enamel on it, which is still not dry, went saggy and wrinkly, probably should have thinned it a bit, it was like treacle ! bit of a mistake.

Still I'm a happy bunny now, of course I need a lathe to go with it, a Drummond M is on my Crimbo list.

hese probably been mooning over a fobco star there cream mine happens to be hamerite light blue and black or whatever paint i can get by the gallon real cheap

Yep and that light will bounce of the light colour paint all around the work area.
