I once found a small one cut it off straight in to a Tupperware box, they where going nuts!
We need a willing volunteer!
I suppose if this warm weather doesnt show any activity it must be disused?
My dad usually gets one in the eaves every year. He uses a length of pipe to get a decent distance away which he part fills with any powder, shoved into the centre and blows into the nest, then repeats but withdraws the pipe to fill the other areas of the nest. Works a treat.
I get them in the cavity.........Ive drilled a hole through from the inside and I can squirt powder thro onto them.........they get in through the air bricks so I squirt them to try and prevent them getting in.........last year we also got some in the porch roof. There was a hole where a light had once been.......I waited until it was dark and squirted through the hole........next morning the floor was covered in them.....Ive got some of the old type killer dust (I think its banned but it works)

just bat it off its dead . if it was live squirt some paraffin in with a long bit of nylon pipe and it snuffs them instantly. i come across them all the time in attics

Ant powder kills them as mentioned.
Best with that is you don't even need to get to the nest if it's hidden. Find their entry path and apply powder there, those who walks through will spread to the others and kill a whole nest in about an hour.

looks pretty dead to me, over here you get insecticide spray cans that can send the insecticide up to 5 metres in a jet, ideal for this sort of thing., don't know if you get them over there.
personally, I'd be watching it for 10 minutes or so, if there's no signs of life, you'd "probably" be right. I'd just get a big stick and scrape it off the roof and let it drop to the floor... (have a clear exit in case....)... but that's just me, and if it didnt work, it would be another for the silly things you've done.

That's an old nest, just wrap a bin bag round it and break it off. As above they will not reuse an old nest and they are not building new ones yet the big wasps that have survived winter are just getting active. I've had a few coming out of our wood pile. Wasps don't collect pollen.

When we had a nest in the garden, I sprayed it with spray contact adhesive, straight at the opening. That sorted them out! That allowed me to get close & a squirt of wasp powder finished them off. All gone in about quarter of an hour.

Get nice and close. Make your tounge nice and wet. Stick tounge into the nest. If after a few minutes you can still feel your tounge .Then all is good.
