Thats last years as its too early for this years menacing sods...i bet there is a couple of fat queens hung up not far just waiting for the warm weather message to start knocking the eggs out. Have a good look under the eaves for a cocoon the size of a hens egg and kill them before the 1st batch hatch and start grafting to build the empire. Roofing for over 40 years and there's nothing you can tell me about them things from April on

, but as said ^^^^^ that's a dead nest. Wasps are dirty things which do pollinate but not by intent and are usually close to middens, rot and so forth, thereby possibly passing on infections by their stings......

late in the year they also get rid of beer garden pests too

Can vouch for those aerosols after using on a hornets nest in Texas. Wanted to be as far away as possible while they were annoyed.
For wasps it’s best to tackle any possible live nests semi-naked, it’s really annoying when 3 or 12 get under your clothes and sting you 114 times in the 2 seconds it takes you to tear them off.
Been replaced with stink bugs with a vengeance.

i have a bad reaction when stung got one last year by a wasp i got the 1000 v megger out and electrocuted it with the probes

Here's mine. I used the Rentokil aerosol from about five feet, they don't like it up 'em. A few weeks later I poked it with a stick to check it was dead, it wasn't. One stung me on the bonce. The Aga saucepans are in the garage because they don't work on the induction hob...

Argh.. hate them. Why do they have to be so aggressive and destructive? They are like a bunch of shrunken down humans with wings..
We have a damson tree outside with around 100 to 150 honey bees on it at this time of year, absolutely lovely things which just go about their business. Cat chases them around and they just bumble along chuckling at him. I brush a wasp by accident while tidying the workshop and its attacking my arm while I scramble for the blowtorch...
