Black canister " Raid for wasps " can squirt to about a metre , it's very effective.
Back in 1998 I was called out to deal with a" bees nest " that turned out to be a massive wasps nest that had overwintered in the roof void of an old folks residential home for several years as the room temps were always maintained in the low 80 oF's .
It was some three metres long and from the ceiling boards up the trusses to about 1. 5 mtrs and as far back to the soffits as possible . Glad I had my pith hat on inside my bee suit for as soon as I opened the trap door & they saw light & sensed m I got the Kamikaze squad on my case , it was quite scary . I went to the nearest big Tesco's in Wisbech and purchased all their three full trays of Wasp Raid aerosols .
They had eaten almost all of the roof trusses away with 12 feet of the nest , where the plaster board nails were they were poking through the remnants of the wood by an inch or more . I used a 3 mtr length of 15 mm copper tube to squirt several raid aerosols into the nests and made a hand grenade of three aerosols ( taped the button down till they sprayed then rolled them to the nest & then closed up the trap door ) . The only reason I was called is that the " Bees " had made a hole in the dining room and had come through the plaster board
Six hours later when I no longer saw any wasps leaving the exit holes in the roof out side I gingerly cut the plaster board away and started removing the nest with a small spade on a pitch fork shaft . IIRC I got 19 large 80 litre tie top bin bags very full of nest & dead wasps out the roof . Then the next day the builders came in and started to do major repairs of a dozen trusses , re. roofing & putting up new ceilings .

Last year, wasps built a nest on the outside of our garage window, right against the glass. It was interesting to watch the building process and observe the inner workings through the glass from inside the garage. The photo shows the maximum size that the nest reached. For some reason, the wasps abandoned the nest and let it fall apart within a few days after these two photos were taken. Maybe they felt that they didn't have enough privacy with people peering into their inner sanctum, or maybe they didn't like the view.

Dangerous stuff if you didn't know what you were doing
Pretty bad stuff to work with even when you did know what you were doing. Headaches were a daily thing whilst using it. You didn’t want to be using it in light soils, the gas used to come up through it very quickly. Very good at its job but not a nice way for anything to die.

4 good snorts of that and your face goes bright red realy increases your heart rate and you can feel it down to your toes

When we worked with Cymag, it was my job to go to the chemist for the antidote. I didn’t know what it’s other use was, I got interrogated the first few times!
