I used to get the same issue until I upgraded my compressor and pipeline. I now have a long length of 22mm copper pipe (approx 20m) To my most used drop leg. Have a couple of drops before that but not used much. Put ball valve drains on all the legs. This goes a long way to getting the moisture out as it allows time for the air to cool and release its moisture. The uppy downy pipe is a great space saving idea though, just make sure you size the pipe correctly allowing for number of bends etc. Metal pipe better than plastic as it conducts heat more.

Fantastic! I’ve got lots of bits left over from plumbing around the house. I’ll get some ball drain valves some water hose flexi or something between compressor and wall and a few more 90 degree elbows.

Will excess water break an air sander on first use though? I mean, push the lever down, run it a few times, then it starts sticking in the on position and you can’t stop it rotating.

Is that water damage or just faulty parts? I’m going to send it back to Sealey.... again.... Even with a bit of water, that’s pretty poor.

Could be the water has resulted in making something internal rusty and now its sticking. If thats the case its pretty poor as you say, an air tool should be designed to unaffected by moisture but its probably been made to a price...

I've got two 3hp compressors and when I blast stuff they get hot, the tanks get warm and the 10m hose starts to warm up. At this point the moisture stops been caught by the trap next to the tanks and starts collecting in the trap on my blasting pot. This is when I stop to let everything cool down and I get a coffee. Making a copper pipe cooler is on my long (ok very long list of jobs to do )

Both tanks have auto vents on but they only vent moisture that condenses which isnt going to happen if the tank itself is warm.

Regular lubrication of the DA should really prevent that. So if you are lubricating it properly (and I'm sure you are) then something sounds amiss.

Yes. I put a few drops in it every 15 or so minutes use. It gets lubricated every use. Can’t remember if I put any in when I got it back until after I’d used it, but I was told to try spraying wd40 through it by Sealey, before it went away. I can’t see that short use would have ran it dry. I’ll get in touch with the distributor again. They’ll be fed up, unless Sealey cover the postage costs. My Parkside sander doesn’t play up like this. When I first got it, on the first use, the air valve plunger got stuck down and I couldn’t stop it. I lubricated inside and put a bit around the outside of the plunger. I had to keep pulling it up with a pair of mole grips to stop it. I thought, I can live with that, if it frees up eventually. It ended up with having to press the handle down very hard to operate before stopping altogether. This time around, the plunger is stuck down. When I connect the air, the plunger flies up and the sander violently starts automatically. The plunger is all the way out. The handle is all the way up and it won’t stop. It does get a little bit better after a bit of use but it never stops. Always vibrating when you’re trying to change pads. It’s crazy! Thanks.

I know you were told to give a spray of WD40 by Sealey, so it is obviously ok for that, but I used it on my Metabo rattle gun & the seal in the trigger air valve disintegrated. I can only think that something in the WD40 rotted the rubber, just something to be aware of, it attacks some rubber & plastics.

Im not speaking from experience here but I have been thinking about this for mine. Best would be to get the water out before it enters the tank. This could be done by a suitably rated, water cooled heat exchanger ( copper pipe in a bucket, small pump, radiator, and fan). If the tank stays cold you also get higher air density.

Can be air cooled as well. I have an ingersoll rand abc-6 unit fitted between the pump outlet and the receiver. It has an auto drain after the cooler that stops the condensate getting to the receiver, the unit is rated at 21cfm but seems to cope well at approx 24cfm

Not all domestic flexi hose is suitable for high pressure, the worst I've seen was marked "max 3 bar"

I looked into cooling between the pump and tank and the only flexi I could find that would run at 150psi and 100+ degrees c was hydraulic or oil cooler hose.

Flexi after the tank wouldnt need to be rated for high temperature

The pipework has been on there for at least 5 years and hasn't leaked yet.
58 bar for the copper, over 800psi.

Cant remember what the safe working pressure for standard plumbing copper is but its way way above what normal garage/worshop compressor will run at in terms of pressure and temperature.

I don’t know about industrial compressors but the pipe work around my hobby compressor looks flimsy as hell. Copper plumbing pipe will handle the pressure if that lot can.
