Welding caps??

I keep meaning to make a welding cap for myself, as they are made for folk with huge heads (no offence meant, but the one I have is so big, it falls over my eyes, so it’s consigned to ‘emergencies only’ bag). I use a bandana, which works well, but I would love to make my own cap, if only I had some silly patterned material in my stash, as silly patterns appear to be compulsory..

So you've bought a high crown cap which could be 7" or 7.5" you might need a 6" or 6.5" the crown is measured from the centre of your nut inline to your ears using a tailors tape. Yeah some patterns are ridiculous these are the ones I go for--just a bit of fun.Also I think you can get the patterns online if your good with a sewing machine.

My welding cap is a dirty, stained woollen one.

Had it years, it is worn enough not to effect the straps of the mask.

It is also stretchy enough to fit over ear duffs.

It’s like gloves. Its been well over a year since I was in my local welding shop. I was trying on the gloves they had, and every pair were like Micky Mouse hands on me. I can only buy gloves to fit me off the internet.

Do you realise how much faffing about making a pair of gloves involve? Even with MY superpowers, it would take way too much time and effort. In fact, that would cut too deeply into my ‘saving the world from miss-using apostrophes’ crusade, and we can’t have that, can we.

Yes it so happens I do. (My mother had a dress making business when I was growing up. I could use an Overlocker at 12yrs old)

Am in need of another couple of caps, as mine are on the verge of falling appart, or a finger going straight through. Got to be soft peaked though as i most often wear them with the peak over my ear to stop spatter in the ear when stick welding. Spatter in the earhole as we all know is rather unpleasant.
Will have a look at the ones mentioned above though, cheers chaps.

from all the above, I must have a very odd shaped heid, I like Kromers, they fit fine and are pretty comfortable even for all day use. They are deep though but that suits me.. I guess it's a bit like shoei and arai... find your fit and stick to it.

Definitely just all black though, I like them a bit more discrete, never went in for all this bright colours and garish schemes crap, too much to stomach on an early morning...

Me too. Black soft peaked Cromer is my usual . It stinks tho !

Never got on with caps. If I’m especially sweaty I turn my baseball hat round, and if im doing anything overhead I have a probably good- but that only comes out in times of extreme issues as it’s like wearing a bin bag on your head
