That was the thirlmear pipeline I take it? I done a few bits for teams on that job and it lookedthis was in the lake district , a few years ago , absolute nightmare ! at best holes were pumped out and a bucket of gravel was dumped in .
bottom half of pipes were welded before the water filled up your wellies
much preheat needed

Could have been worse, you could have been in a muddy wet hole, up near Netherley, December in the snow trying to stove the Forties Pipline while still full of oil, with a minor leak held back by a quick expoxy wrap.heres some more rainy day pipe welding . a typical aberdeen autumn day digger is holding shelter from blowing away
its tough at the top
even worse on the bottom View attachment 366955View attachment 366956View attachment 366958View attachment 366958 View attachment 366957

thing o do is wear marigold washing up gloves under your gauntlets, that will protect you from wet gloves/shocksWhen I was on the railway I had lots of this, if it was raining hard luck, you still had to go out and do it my main memory is getting a bit of a belt every time I changed a rod ! ....Keeping your gloves dry just wasn't an option unfortunately...still I'm sure it "builds character".. Happy days eh !
And you're equipped for the washing up when you get home.thing o do is wear marigold washing up gloves under your gauntlets, that will protect you from wet gloves/shocks
