I recently received an email from sat diver mate, who was bell man when wave hit bell, I don't know what depth he was at, at the time.

Anyway it shows me in the bell and the affect a seismic wave created by an underwater earthquake off of Tobago with a magnitude of 6.1 has when it passes by....... they reckon the wave took 25 minutes to reach us from it's epicentre, the divers in the water got a bit of a scare but after seeing the clip themselves said I had the worst of the experience..... all I can say is thank goodness we weren't any closer or there were no aftershocks....(Unquote)

About 20 years ago I worked for a generator welder hire company. We bought a brand new mobile 100 Kva generator set from FG Wilson. On inspection first full tank a 2 inch split in the tank started to leak. My firm negotiated a £ 2000 discount to repair this ourselves. I filled the tank to the neck with the red flammable stuff and stick welded the gushing split in less than 5 minuets.
Didn't even get a thank you.

Apart from getting wet the main difference I found to stick welding underwater is the angle, very shallow.
The rod angle needs to be very shallow to allow Hydrogen gas to escape, gives you a right head ache when that stuff goes pop

There's a video on YouTube somewhere of them in an underwater chamber, the atmosphere is modified to contain helium in place of Nitrogen, when they're cooking the water won't boil until 400°C because of the pressure, oh and they talk funny
Nitrogen and oxygen is bad for you underwater.
And pressure makes your voice squeaky
