Man after my own heart! Sadly 'er indoors is the opposite. Buys useless crap and clutter and nothing useful. The last few months she has been buying Silver Cross doll's p'ram's! She bought one as a "project" (for my project she meant) and then bought a nearly new one for hundreds of pounds. I noticed the other day that the "project" had appeared in my garage, yet there were still two in the house. Yes you guessed. Yet another one bought.
After the first one I said "But what does it actually DO?" The glass wall came down so I gave up.

I bought myself two electronics kits from China on ebay, total cost about £12. The first is an audio signal generator, which I got working yesterday (more or less Xmas). The next one is the control circuitry for a 0-30V, 0-3A DC power supply unit, and that could well get started...quite soon .

Wife is getting me the shoes i want, I'm getting her the shoes she wants.
I hinted very strongly to my brother that i would love a lego technic version of Toretto's Dodge Charger... and in return he's getting some HD welding clamps.

My MIL on the other hand was waxing lyrical about buying presents for people from charity shops..."they should just like what they're given, it's the thought that counts"
wife: "but mum, would you want a present from a charity shop?"
"no i wouldn't, but that's not the point..."

Some moons ago I got a Lego crane wagon. It tooks ages to complete these monster. After completing it was destroyed from a little monster called my son :-).

Though I did give the wife a list of possibilities for the family, ranging from disposable Tiger gloves to Wera Joker spanners and a collet chuck for my lathe. Funny enough enough since I was a kid most of my presents have been car parts, motorbike parts or tools. I still recall getting a stage 3 head and a piper HR285 Magnum cam for my Escort Mexico when I was 21.

I never dared ask for anything for my car, because Christmas day would go like this "oh, lovely, a set of cams for my SR20DET... oh they're actually for a Honda B16A... well... thanks anyway, I'm sure they'll go on Ebay..."

we have agreed for years to give the money we would spend on each other to a local dog charity......
Plus when we got married all prezzy's (money, went to the same charity).....
anyway,
we have these bundles of joy to share Xmas with.....
they were found at 2 days old dumped in a forest.....we only take in new born pups....all 7 have homes now and will travel towards the end of January.....
Finland, Holland, 2 to Germany and the rest to the UK...
as for tools I'm allowed to buy what I want, when I want....works for me.....hahaha.....
