No, what makes you think that?Something for the bike, again?
No need, once I sit on it nothing mattersHave you put that bike on a weighbridge yet?
I just like to personalise like most bikers do but mine is extra special as no one else has the same parts as they are one offHow much of this bike was missing when you bought it?
Heel plate? Are you going to polish it before anodising - will the machining marks be visible?Bit of a waste of material as I only had a lump of 4" x 2" aluminium and the part is only 20mm thick but it was spare and already had been paid for so...

First side done.

Turned over and had to face off 30mm, should have chopped on the bandsaw I suppose but I just wasted it instead

Didn't have any suitable Acetal sheet so just used some 140mm dia.

Shoved it in the lathe and parted off then faced and engraved the other side, bit of chatter at the ends but it is hardly seen in real life and will get scratched up anyway.

Still need to anodise the aluminium but that will have to wait until next weekend.
Oh, you are most definitely specialI just like to personalise like most bikers do but mine is extra special as no one else has the same parts as they are one off
My teacher always said I was special
Nope, a chain fin or whatever you call it and nope, not going to polish as I want the machining marks to show.Heel plate? Are you going to polish it before anodising - will the machining marks be visible?
Aye but you listened to Mark too much, good job for you I knew what he was like and thus discounted most of the things he said about youOh, you are most definitely special
(It's ok, I never brought my coat tonight)
Just so long as I get to buy that Chiron for the same price he sold it to you for when you decide to sell it, and I won't mention what he said about youAye but you listened to Mark too much, good job for you I knew what he was like and thus discounted most of the things he said about you
Chain fin - to stop your toes going between chain and rear sprocket?Nope, a chain fin or whatever you call it and nope, not going to polish as I want the machining marks to show.
Here is a footpeg and brake pedal I made, I reckon the machining marks add to the look but maybe that is just me

Oh there is no chance of you getting the Chiron, already spoken forJust so long as I get to buy that Chiron for the same price he sold it to you for when you decide to sell it, and I won't mention what he said about you
Yes, exactly that, original below.Chain fin - to stop your toes going between chain and rear sprocket?
Machining marks - thought you might, are you going to finish it off so the machining marks follow the outline of the insert?

What's going on here? I've never seen someone skim an entire cylinder or 2 of the end of a cylinder head.Nothing like the talent of a lot of you guys but faced off a cut down cylinder head today to tidy the cut up before welding and then re-machining. Was just nice to be a in a workshop of my own again, despite the cold lol.
Were you part of the JLR team that “ developed “ their V6 by any chance?Nothing like the talent of a lot of you guys but faced off a cut down cylinder head today to tidy the cut up before welding and then re-machining. Was just nice to be a in a workshop of my own again, despite the cold lol.

It’s a Vauxhall Carlton 24v head. You are correct. Lopping two cylinders off and mating to an omega A 2.4 bottom end to create a 16v CIH aka manta 400 incarnation. They were cast strictly as a 16v but this is a way of doing it on a moderately better budget. Still not cheap by any stretch but I’ve wanted to have a go for some time. What's going on here? Straight 6 or v12 head onto a 4 cylinder? If so, what engine?
