Superb job there Mr HoodI was needing to make an unobtainable transducer housing for a boat so got some 60mm thick HDPE as it was half the price of Nylon.
I had never machined it before so wasn't sure how it would turn out but I was pleasantly surprised.

Likely wouldn't be as impact resistant, they can take a battering. Not knocking it but could that not have been printed?
HDPE is nice to machine. I made a load of production line parts out of it for a bottling plant a couple of years back. Can get it in quite a few colours too, which is handy for quick product recognition when you have ten very similar bottle options on a production line!I was needing to make an unobtainable transducer housing for a boat so got some 60mm thick HDPE as it was half the price of Nylon.

Yes definitely better in Bronze. Nice job.The new cross slide nut I bought a while ago for the South Bend is made of brass.
Bronze is a better choice according to the internet, so as a little project I decided to try and make one.
Bought a piece of bronze RG7 and a 7/16x10 left hand acme tap. Quite happy with the result.View attachment 404819View attachment 404820View attachment 404821View attachment 404822View attachment 404823
Same here.a handle for the cross slide wheel from some alu bar, a bolt and a nut, looks a bit out of proportion/place but the wheel is prob the one that's too small!
