Is that a 50mm csa connector?
Or does it look bigger than it is?

Mind you I am thinking that the steel is 50mm x 6mm cos thats what I have got lol

I have just done some 25mm ones with 16mm cable in with a standard cheap pair of non ratchet crimpers. Worked realy well but dont think it will do when I need some 50mm ones doing. I will be able to size up yours to suit. Thanks for the design was looking at a v-ed block & a pointed punch to go in a vice as a method.

Make sure you round the end of the punch, I have had them penetrate the lug wall instead of collapsing it.

I've seen the ones you mean, sort of thing a fitter would use, I'm an electrician with a bit of pride in my work

the crimper i made worked well, but it doesn't produce the prettiest of results. I think the hydraulic crimper will produce much nicer results.

The hydraulic crimpers are good as if they are set right will produce a perfect crimp every time as the pump bypasses when the correct pressure is reached.

I can still crimp faster with a mechanical crimper held in a vice though!

I have bought a set of those.

They are called "Hammer on" type. I tried a #2/0 in the vice and it actually damaged the vice . Worked with a hammer but took a LOT of pounding.

Since then I have made my own out of 5/8"OD flexible copper pipe. Cut about 3", hammer half flat, drill hole and crimp on. Work real well.

I've done the same, quick, cheap and effective.

I've also used copper brake pipe to crimp several wires together when re-wiring my Landrover.

I made my first ring roller back in 1998 when I was doing a lot of architectural metalwork for exhibition stands it generated a lot of interest localy so I started manufacturing and selling them back in 2000(and it does what it says on the specs)

I heard through the grapevine, he is/was looking into purchasing a laser profiler, love to view one o them beasties doing the bizzzzzzz!

The laser was installed today prior to commission he is a wee bit excited about it good to have another here in the lothians.I get my laser cuts done by Gillespie in Kirckaldy good prices.

Don't know much about them but isn't laser more accurate and cleaner cutting than water jet? + there's got to be a lot less mess!
