I'm in Devon luckily I have some parts suppliers Derby way and have already acquired a good used rear quarter and subframe I can strip it all down etc just no time

Ah right, bit far from me lol. I'm in South Yorkshire. I need a subframe, along with 172 widetrack lol, oh, and most importantly, to get the shell done

Following on from the photos i posted in my introduction ive decided to make a start with stripping back paint and have found a few problems relating to previous archwork.

This is what it looked like on the surface

Bubbling under the paintwork with what looked like rust in the paintwork.

So i set about with a wirebrush on a drill and found the problem area.

Whats my best course of action, im thinking about cutting the previous repair pacth right out and starting from scratch utilising a repair panel.

Just read back through this...
You have a few options really, you could either, buy one of these

Cut off the lip for yours (personally if do it up the crown line on the existing arch)
Mind you will need to modify it somewhat but not too much, or, if the rot is further up (in my case the bottom of the window had gone and on the drivers side all round the fuel filler had gone) get one of these

As I'm sure you will have seen on my thread it's from a base model clio, but in my case I'd rather use the whole of it so won't be trimming bits from it. I'd recommend you look for any other parts you may need though so you don't chop away and then think b@llocks, I now need a new inner arch too, most parts are readily available as I've bough loads for mine. All fairly cheap too. Might as well do it right lol

If it's useable then fair play

I've got everything new for mine, everyone came to less than £300 which isn't something to grumble at, especially when there are people selling fibreglass williams rear quarters for £200 a pair!
You got a pic of the rear quart you'll be using?

I'll get the cover off and try and take one, its all packed up ready to go all windows etc off shes open to the elements
