Wheelie bin compactor build

Hi all a little project i have done posted pics incase anyone wanted to build one

Anyways ive gotten fed up with the black bin overflowing especially with the every other week collection my bin is always full and means i usally have to take a trip to tip but now i have built this im hoping all my troubles will go away

Needs a lick of paint and bolting to the wall but test run it and it seems to work

Be careful...i bet it wont empty,it never does when i get inside mine and beat them down with my boots. I used to 1st put 4 house bricks at the bottom to help it on its way but the lads stopped taking my bin because of it..so no tips at Christmas now

we went to fortnightly too...problem solved by each day on the way to work just drop a small bag into the street bins

yeah we are fortnightly too they used to come every week and i used to have two bins never had any issues back then

Looks a handy gadget

I find the biggest problem is er indoors ties the bag tops off and they end up full of air, I now have a steel rammer with a spike on the bottom, bursts the bags, lets the air out and squashes them flat.

If you put a layer of hardcore in the bottom, it knocks out the rest when it goes up on the waggon....

It was just the once but never seen a bin empty as fast

Will give our refuse collection technicians their due, if the lid still closes it gets tipped no matter what's in there.

Fridge-freezers are a bit of a challenge according to a friend of mine.

I can get them to empty mine if its half full of rubble every time a few pieces of scrap cable fill the bin at different levels and some on the top and they cant empty it fast enough

ive seen them put double bed mattress in and the metal frame it took a hammering before it finaly went in

Bin men around my way are alright, i ran out one day with 2 5 gallon buckets of rubish and asked could I throw them in, he said "buddy ya can throw a few bodies in for all I care"

What do you do with all the microwaves?

Put them in next doors bin
