Which type of welding do you like best ?

Self destructing cables are usually down to a bad connection the cables are ether 35mm2 and 50mm2 size wise the cables are adequate it always on a connection they fail
the cable eating welder is a murex 525. use an interlas 480 at work and that can find a bad connection pretty quick.

OA tried it on a few bits of scrap and quite liked it but never actually used it for anything constructive

verry true anyone that hasnt used or got proficient with gas welding doesnt know what they are missing especialy doing classic car welding

Hi. Food for thought I'm an ATA Senior panel technition and not allowed to gas weld or gas braze cars any more. It carbinizes the metal making it weak and prone to rusting. That said mig welding cars is on the way out too (to hot)

got MMA,OxyA and tig, I favour tig for most jobs as its clean-no smoke and sparks and the heat is local so I can work inside, but if the weathers ok I'll use the other methods, I find all welding satisfying.

I mainly use mig as its perfect for mild steel exhausts and anything i do up to 5 or 6mm.
I do love getting to use the arc set, although i dont have much call to use it for what i weld at present.
Never tried tig, dont think i ever will as i couldnt justify the cost of setting it up.
Il probably never try oxy/ acet either due to bottle cost/ insurance etc but i would love to have a go.

if you like mig for exhausts, you would love oa much nicer and easier on rusty old exhausts. Plus really good for getting them clamps off and manifold bolts, heat them until cherry red comes out like a new nut or bolt that has been hand tightened.

I like using the O/A but the Tig set has nigh on made it redundant now and the bottle rental cost is seriously spoiling the fun.

Understand totally rental and insurance is what is killing the art

I was paying near £300 rental on O/A bottles so I gave them back and bought albee bottles for £300 instead they are smaller ,easier to handle , and they have gauges on , the only downside is they dont last long so have to fill them more often but Im saving the rent so alls well !

Hi what size are they and how much is a refill from them mate

9.6 lts Acety at 15bar , 11 lts oxy at 200bar , as for refill prices i will have a look and let you know !
